Gene therapy in women who want to have babies one day would simply mean they pass on this resistance, which could be seen as a very good thing. I think enhancing the bodies natural defenses is a really good route to follow in the fight against HIV.

We need to step up our education across the board in the US to help lower HIV infection rates and teen pregnancy this abstinence crap just does not work.

This was a very interesting read, I don't understand why do people who don't believe in HIV continue to exist? What more evidence do you require and why is there no good counter evidence at all?

I find it really sad that countries still keep individuals from immigrating based on HIV status, this is a terrible form of discrimination. The US hasent had the best record with this and I hope it gets improved.

Google covers more then just public places, and while I understand in general they make it hard to zoom in some areas there are still places where "a reasonable of privacy could be expected" but really is not there due to these satellites. That is exactly what constitutes a privacy violation.

Google currently does not use the results of votes in their SERP algorithm. Its talked about more on Matt Cutts google.com blog http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/. I think that if they did decide to use it that it would talk thousands of votes to trigger a review, and then a human would look at the site determining if their was a obvious reason it was "bad or "good". Depending on the review the site could receive a bonus or a penalty.

I don't really think this was a very sound study in the first place, the people conducting it have a interest in the result obviously. This is especially true for Microsoft because I bet a large portion of their PPC business is from business as a result of their other products dominance in the area. Also I don't think all small business would benefit from PPC to their site, some businesses really don't covert well in the internet environment. With all that being said I do think companies often have bad or poor SEO for their sites and don't use PPC when it sometimes might prove effective.

I think google has far too much access to a lot of information that becomes a real concern to me. The problem is in a lot of cases I think they are fully within the law. For example one concern is now people keep health records on google, combined with their search history and email this seems like a huge database of information on individuals. Why wont the gov go to google like it did with the phone companies and simply give immunity like they did for the phone companies?

I think the page links seem like a natural extension of site links and are a good idea. I think the display of product information/prices seems like you might end up clogging the search results.

Even if the yahoo Microsoft deal does not happen I think someone is going to buy yahoo. They are a solid company and severely under valued right now. Its sad that the severance stipulation was taken out I imagine its the pressure from the shareholders.

I think firefox is a excellent web browser and only occasionally have trouble with it crashing on ubuntu. Google chrome does not interest me much, but judging from this it seems like they are pouring a lot of resources in to it ill be interested in their planned innovations if they have any.

Yea a lot of the users are fake accounts or made for other purposes. Facebook is being very successful anyhow and once they work out some of the monetization issues will become a very profitable company.

Blogs are blogs, and news media/journalism is something different. Both have positives and negatives. Certainly "real" journalism is not immune from bad writing, it has a lot of pitfalls and coverage issues.

I think mobile ads wont be really worth it or effective for a couple years at best, they have a lot of refining and customer base they need first.

I don't think companies will have a choice, they will have to figure out ways to incorporate these pages in their sites or they will just reap negatives. There is also potential for them to turn it to their advantage.

As long as ads are tasteful I would rather not pay and most the time when they are not its not in my "favorite" sites. Ads make a lot of resources free and can be helpful sometimes.
