Tom do you think that Bob Knight would of become the winningest D1 coach at Army? Try not batch. Indiana hadn't won much during the 60's......and Indiana was still considered elite in the 70's when Bobby took the job. Produced may of been the wrong term.....maybe I should of said an ELITE program like INDIANA help Bob Knight flourish into the winningest coach ever.....I mean even at Tech he wasn't as consistant. I wasn't "raving" about KS either. I was merely pointing out that he had us back in business in two years as a major contender. Until he left the hoosiers were doing great.....or at least much better than past years.

Oh and the Mike Davis thing....I'm sure you weren't runnin' your cock sucker when we were in the NCAA championship game. The players wanted him and when they got him they went to the finals and won a share of the Big Ten......maybe thats something that elite teams don't do.

Look Tom, this isn't about grammar.....this isn't about spelling.....this forum is about IU basketball. If you don't think that a school with the 3rd most national championships our of any other school in the country.....a school that has the second most Big Ten titles.........a school who produced the all time winningest coach in NCAA history.....a school with the best damn fans in all of college basketball........isn't an elite school.....well then Tom what exactaly is your definition of an elite college basketball program.
In my opinion, I think schools like UNC and Duke are overrated. I mean if one school gets the east McDonald's all american team and the other gets the west....every year.....and doesn't consistantly win national titles.....I would say they are overrated teams.
But please Tommy Boy.....lets hear your definition.

it has everything that an elite school needs....a great campus....awesome fans....history.....tradition....financial backing.......it was on its way back too. I mean KS got us in the top 7 and we were in contention for the Big 10. It took him less than two years. If he wouldn't of got the ax we wouldn't be playing like this. If you don't think IU is an elite basketball school your an idiot. It is elite it just hasn't had the right coach to fill bobby's shoes. Hopefully we will get it right this time.....and mark my words...when roy boy leaves unc....and coach k leaves duke...they will suck too....so if we make a great move here we will slingshot into prominance....if we don't well it will be a real slap in the face to hoosier fans everywhere.

PS: Rick Pitino was in Bloomington for 4 hours this weekend.

I do like Bennett and the more I read....the more I like. Hell he got a 4 seed in the tournament. Miller I don't think wold be bad......something about it just doesn't seem right.....but he he got a 3 seed. It is disappointing to hear these two wouldn't be interested in the job, but it is, after all, a rumor. I don't like many of the names on the committee. I agree with the "whose gonso" thing. Maybe he should pick the football coach. Yeagley and Radford seem like good pics though. I did here through the grape vine that John Calapari was text messaging former hoosier and new jersey net Brian Evans about the IU job.

Sherron is right. If you don't like Bob Knight......um....you may not be an indiana fan. If you didn't like the 3 national tittles or the 11 conference championships....or the amount of consistant wins he accumulated over the years at Iu to become the all time winningest coach in D1.....you may not be an indiana fan. If you like run and gun street ball.....and inappropriate recruiting.....and inconsistency....well you must love indiana basketball....because thats what it has been since he left.

I mean come on an 8 seed. We were in the top 25 all year long. We finished 3rd in the Big Ten....almost 2nd. We have the froch of the year and player of the year. We did beat Purdue the 6 and Michigan State the 5. Get out of here.

This season has been the most dramatic of any season at IU by far. I think if we are going to do a little blame placing I would start with whoever hired Kelvin Sampson. I honestly think Rick Greenspan was almost forced into hiring KS, and that is why he hasn't been kicked to the curb as well. I'm not saying that he shouldn't be kicked to the curb....I'm just stating why I think he hasn't. We are a university that prides itself on following the rules. Do you think UCLA or Kentucky can look at their banners with as much pride as us Hoosiers.....I doubt it. We should of never of brought in a guy like Sampson in the first place. I happened to like him myself, but had we never had him to begin with....we never would of had to endure this painful series of events. I think the university did the right thing by firing him and moving on.
It wasn't Dan Dakich's fault.............but now it is. I understand that this is a messed up situation for him to be in, but I want a head coach that can make positive things happen out of negative situations. As head coach, he is running the show.....and he is running it right into the ground. I think he hurt himself more than he helped himself accepting the position of head coach right now. The team looks unmotivated, unstable, inconsistant, and sloppy....there is no excuse for that at IU. We have 2 first round draft picks on the team this year, and this is the best that Dakich can do? Thanks but no thanks Dan.....maybe try Indiana State.
Greenspan's decision to make Dakich the interim is next on the list. Dan Dakich played and coached for Bob Knight. He didn't have anything to do with recruiting these players, and if he did....they wouldn't of been here to begin with. On the other hand there is Ray. Ray coached at Ball State and Houston. He has coached decent NBA talent....Bonzi Wells. He was a big part of getting these players to come to IU....I think he was the right choice. These players don't even know who Kieth Smart is....they don't give a damn about Dakich. I think this was a move to make IU fans happy......and what makes IU fans happy is winning.
I think we will get a 5 seed. We will play Kent state or something and get beat. I don't see us making a run anymore....not without a coach. I'm ready for a head coach to be named and Hoosier basketball to restart.....again.
