It's called "sarcasm". Laughing about the comments about Gabby and Schipske, they have done squat which is a plus really.

Hey Mike we get it, you've got a hard-on for Gary DeLong, is all this grandstanding for your run for council next year? Or don't you have the courage to take what you dish out? I'm surprised you haven't place DeLong in Legends having lunch with Rotundo while the bulldozers were running over the landfill.
Why don't you just start your own blog "www.everythinggarydelonghasdonewrong.com" and you can give us a daily list. Everyone who has read everything Ruehle has written sign below, scrolling does not count; and if you have read it please indicate how many other times you have read the same thing.

Perhaps you can start a "bookend" blog called everythinggarddelonghasdoneright.com!!!! It would be pretty easy! You'd only need one static page!

Freddy P,
Did you attend the Council Meeting last night?
Guess what? After hearing his comment about the wetland property that isn't delineated as a "wetland property" that is part of the land swap deal, I do believe quite a few persons have some wood for Mr. DoneWrong.
His comment on the subject of a parcel included in the trade: "Just sprinkle some water on it", was said with a smirk.
Meaning, if it's not a wetland, those that want to protect wetland properties will consider it such if the council would "Just sprinkle some water on it".
That was pretty much his input for the entire meeting.
Arrogant as hell.
And OH my, so much more to be posted about an even more important information uncovered by Schipske and Uranga, from the Assistant City Attorney during the meeting.
You must attend the council meetings to see these sad events occur.....

Hello FP,
I didn't see Councilman DeLong having lunch with Belmont Shore Business Association President Gene Rotondo in his Legends bar when the wetlands were being bulldozed on March 19th and 20th. Do you know if that indeed happened? I guess I should have thought to check it out for myself. It's quite possible since he and his staff are frequent customers.
However, I have observed Councilman O'Donnell and Councilman DeLong having lunch in Legends prior to the wetlands bulldozing.
Are you suggesting that Gene Rotondo and his Legends bar are somehow involved in bulldozing of the wetlands. If so, maybe you can provide some more detail.

Freddy P,
Don't kid yourself into believing that Mike is the only one upset with the jokers who abuse public funds through their city-affiliated actions.
I hope Mike runs for office...the real people-not the chosen special few-need representation too. It appears there are only two councilmembers (Gabelich and Schipske) who give a damn about us, as proven by their actions and not just their words.

in COALITION TO HOTELIERS: TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR WORKERS on The District Weekly
How about this headline: Community to hotel workers: take responsibility for your own lives. Why are they low wage hotel workers? Lack of education? Lack of ability to properly communicate throughout the region? Did the hotels force them to quit school? Did the hotels force them to not have adequate skills to communicate well enough to get a higher paying job at say the front desk or as a server in the restaurant? Did the hotels force them to take their jobs? No the hotels offered the jobs at a certain wage and the workers applied and were hired. As a local economist recently said, poverty is not caused by wages, poverty is caused by lack of education which determines the wages you are able to earn. Perhaps these folks should be picketing and protesting their own parents for not enabling them to achieve the skills needed for higher paying jobs and careers. Tonya's army though don't understand this, it is someone else's fault of course.

The Lowenthals have never lost an election, or won a marriage. But in the end all the "dirt" being brought up about Suja, Bonnie, etc. will not matter--just like it won't for Richardson; all will still get elected again, and again. Infidelity, ethics, trust, none of it matter in Long Beach as long as you are listed on a ballot as either a Lowenthal or a Democrat--the only two things people consider when punching their ballots. Local politicians know this and behave accordingly, i.e. however they want, knowing it will do no harm to them on election day.
Good work DW on shining some light under this bushel, too bad in the long wrong it won't really matter since of most the people who read this site and vote will continue to be sheep punching the same names again and again.

in LB CHAMBER APPROACHES JOSH LOWENTHAL ABOUT RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
Does your place of business pay your car insurance? What about your homeowners policy, if you have one, does your employer pay for that? Why is it necessary for an employer to be responsible for the health care of its employees? Just because the health care industry several decades ago came up with bundled insurance plans for large employers and the added bonus to have the employer collect the premiums, it has now migrated to employers have to be responsible for the individuals being insured or not. Just as the employer is also responsible for the collection of income and social security taxes; what's next is the employer going to be responsible to collect people's mortgage payments? Rent? Dues--oh yeah they already require employers to collect the union dues and PAC contributions for the unions.
The liberals in government, and society, do not want individuals to be accountable or responsible, they want the government to provide and be responsible so everything is "equal", to do this they mandate employers be responsible for their employees payments where they can; especially for collecting the taxes that keeps the government in business. Sales tax, income tax, medicare tax, social security tax, all these are the responsibility of business owners.
So John has "substantial income" as a professor in college said to us one day, "I'd be a socialist too if I were rich enough to afford it." John appears to be a member of the Kennedy-Pelosi-Boxer-Kerry club, congrats. Our people can't take care of themselves, let's find something else we can mandate that takes away more of their accountability...
If you like I can write your canned and predicable responses.

Despite your continued assertion that I am "Randy" when you go on your stupid myopic diatribes--which no matter what the subject on this site it is always the same bullsh*t from you about Randy and the Chamber being the root of every problem--I am not Randy; he has better things to do than read your consistently insipid comments. By the way you have never answered a question that I have seen on many comment lists: who pays you? Are you a government employee? Is that why you can hate business? Why don't you try a new and improved diatribe since no one cares what you have to say anymore since you always say the same thing? And please, where do you get your income to support yourself? Public assistance? Government job? Mom? Uncle Buck? Or were you one of the bitches Leona Helmsly left all her money to in her will?
Unfortunately a lot of the folks in Sacto are as anti-business as you are which is why we are losing good jobs to other states; if the trend continues you'll be blissful in about 15 years when the whole state is sucking on the government tit for substenance like you are today.
Until you fess up to how you make rent each month and pay the grocery bills your anti-Gordon rants become more and more shallow.
Now I have to go back to work so I can pay my taxes and support you.

in TALKING GANGS, THINKING LOBSTERS | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
It is hard to fight crime in areas where the citizenry do not report the crime, do not speak to the police and give more power to the bangers than to the cops. The locals in the hoods distrust the cops and the cops reciprocate. They want the cops to protect them, but when they do and someone gets hurt they all scream about police brutality. I agree with Luman, they can clean it up if everyone wants to allow them to do it; but the criminals have more rights than the cops and the victims in the neighborhoods would rather continue to be victims than to stand up and ally with the cops. You get the neighborhood you help create.

in CHAMBER’S GORDON LOSES ELLIS RECALL BID–BUT STILL ‘THE MAYOR’ | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
John I know a lot about the teachers union, an awful lot. And to the background checks on candidates not Ellis or Barton, those currently sitting are all long, long time Long Beach residents and volunteers--we're talking decades of involvement before being on the school board. Stanton and Meyer have children who went through the district and grandchildren in it. Barton and Ellis were carpet baggers. Barton has been much better than Ellis, but still the background in the community is missing. John, good luck with your boycott, you will have to do all of your business outside of the city probably as the Chamber has an incredible membership that is very active supporting our city and ensuring a healthy business environment. By the way, if others supported your boycott do you have any clue how many people would be out of jobs? An overwhelming majority of the Chamber membership is small and medium sized businesses; from small home based businesses to places employing 5, 10, 20 people--businesses like The District Weekly are typical. But I guess it is okay to just be anti-business. By the way, before Gordon came the Chamber was broke and on the verge of insolvency--he saved it, stabilized it and grew it to a healthy and vibrant organization. The only organization in the city standing up for businesses, employers and job retention and growth in the city.
Ellis can still be removed but someone else inside TALB will need to dish some dirt on the process under which he came in; now with McVarish gone there is a chance.

in CHAMBER’S GORDON LOSES ELLIS RECALL BID–BUT STILL ‘THE MAYOR’ | The District Weekly on The District Weekly
The difficulty with the chamber's recall is that the number of signatures needed far exceeds the turnout in almost any election in that district; something above 6000 signatures. My understanding is that several signature collectors were actually warned by building managers not to go door knocking for their own safety. As for the LBPost "reporting" DKS seems to be reaching--a la Bill Pearl but without the jealousy--for printing a "news release". Get over it. Criticize other outlets for printing it as well. Failure on this was originally by Lowenthal for pulling out and letting Ellis have the seat--after Shannon failed and let him on the ballot despite failing residency requirement. In the end the guy (Ellis) is a low life and our kids are better if he just creapt under a rock in someone else's district.
