I think this should not be a big surprise. Many are hesitant to question McCain's motives for anything he does or doesn't do. He seems to be such a nice guy, doesn't he? I urge only that voters remember an ancient admonition that things (and people) are seldom "what they seem to be."

That may very well include the "nice old guy with integrity" image that McCain has carefully cultured and grown over the past years. I've not done it myself, but I suspect that a really good dig into his entire record in the legislature might show a lot more than the "image" he's built for himself as "the maverick" to the extreme right wing of the Republican Party. And BUSH says, it would "cost TOO MUCH?" EGAD!

Do some studying before you off-handedly blame an apathetic and ignorant public for this mess. Only recently have we become so aware of our leaders' abilities to guide the masses, control the masses, with their "marketing and propaganda." Conspiracy has become a "bad word" for a good reason. They do it.

I had no idea that anybody thought of Bill Clinton as an "elder" or as a "statesman." Is he 70 yet? And my definition of "statesman" is not "A male person who lives in a state."
