in Bill Gates Says Goodbye on Fred Brunel

To show I am not closed to a (probably never ending ;-) ) debate, I conclude my comment with this funny story "If Microsoft Never Existed":

It shows that yes, MS had real influence ;-) .

in Bill Gates Says Goodbye on Fred Brunel

Bill Gates created an entire industry.

I do not agree. Microsoft was a supplier of DOS for IBM PC. Then it made Windows to compete IBM's OS/2.
What kind of industry creation are you talking about ? Maybe office suite softwares (if we say packaging Word + Excel makes a industry of office suites), else I don't see any other.

Thanks to him, he made the PC technology affordable to everyone.

I do not agree. Price of the Microsoft operating systems was higher than most competitors. It is an increasing part of the PC price.
User interface and reliability was often late on competitors.
Okay Excel and Word always were easy to use (if you could buy them). They were not available on non Microsoft OS, this why Bill won.

We can enjoy his legacy.

I do not. But I agree shareholders do.

I wish him the best.

Me too :-).
