Did you eat something strange before you went to bed and had bad dreams about American's and feet, step on a nail, or stub your toe. I have practiced Ju-Jutsu for over twenty years and can choke someone with my feet! True, and proof that American's do not fear use of their feet. The relative lack of interest until recently in America in soccer has nothing to do with feet but everything to do with the American experience. The New World would have it's own sports and until globalization took hold soccer remained basically unknown. Thank cable TV and the internet and leave the feet alone!

Re: Transfer News

The discovery rule strikes again in NY. Is this rule crushing the growth of the league. Seems so.
I should be seeing Brian McBride tonight at Toyota Park, but at least will get a Blanco bobblehead!

As I write this ,the ink is dry on Brad Guzan's deal. Great for him, a Chicago guy who was developed in part by the Fire. However, another America playing in England. It's hurting to see so many go at this point. Not only MLS but FIFA and UEFA has to keep good American players home in the long run they all benefit.

Re: Superliga Coverage

Is the full schedule posted anywhere!

Re: Superliga Coverage

Got it. Given it's Spanish language only TV, and I am no, this is America, speak English only type of guy, is there an English language chat to help follow the games with.

No one should take me wrong here, growing up in Chicago, you would go into entire areas of the City where English was a second language. It was normal and accepted. Many of the people you would go to school with, you would visit at home and their parents spoke only another
language or some limited English.

I enjoy the Spanish language broadcasts and find the Spanish networks do a good job with my limited Spanish.

Re: Superliga Coverage

Thanks, that was great last year.

Re: Superliga Coverage

Live streaming on the site tonight. Blanco still has it, plain and simple at age 35. Sven is making the right move and I believe that it will be a popular move among the rest of the Mexican team.

On the other hand putting more miles on Blanco at this point is not good for the Fire's playoff push.

Overall, I am very proud of Temoc!

Re: Dyanamo Show How it is done: Join Impact and Islanders in CONCACAF Quarters.

The CCC is hardly known to the American Soccer public. Please note the reference to the "soccer public". If the clued in soccer public does not have an understanding of the competition then how can it possibly be sold to a wider audience. An event that gets no mention even on ESPN does not exist on the American sports scene. Ok, ESPN in Spanish may cover it, but since I do not get it I wouldn't know.

MLS can use the Superliga and CCC to bring in the extra revenue to lure some better quality players to the American shores. So it is important to the future of MLS to make them work. In my book making them a New World version of the UEFA Cup an CL may make the most sense. The wider soccer public can accept them quicker that way. In the meantime yes, good for Houston, but how many of us` really care?

Re: Time for MLS and ESPN to Build Together

ESPN like the MLS has to resolve how to align the MLS. Will the league and it's coverage adopt a English model to attract the EPL fans out there or will the league and MLS adopt a Latin/Mexican model to attract the vast and growing fans of the Mexican league. While it maybe be tempting and easier to make the coverage and the league a EPL clone in the long the Latin style of football will win out. American's are attracted to a fast pace wider open game. While those of who admire the hard hitting English game, it is the movement and the up tempo that American's want to see in it's sporting action. The 4 corner offense is not to suited to the North American viewer.

Once the league has decided how to structure itself ESPN will follow and it would love to steal some of the audience that the Mexican league has.
