I can't wait to use Koofers. Hopefully they allow you to "add a school" so we can use it in Canada...

I'd say it's much better. Much more streamlined and useful. Everything feels like it works together now and seems like one Facebook, rather than there being a bunch of pages that loosely correlated.

Was f8 extremely disappointing for anyone else?

Connect still isn't ready!? It's going through a Beta period? It'd better be a fairly open beta, for users, at least.

It also seems that the whole Import Digg/Flicker/etc. feature has gone to moot.

Apparently visiting this release of www.new.facebook.com is considered your "opt-in" because now when I visit the normal facebook, I get redirected to the new one.

How exactly do they plan for us to opt-in? News feed message? Profile option?

With the new profile; anyone have any idea how you would go about changing your name? I'm assuming it'll be through the lock button in the top right? The pages are so limited now. I really wish we could access the "home" page. =|

Slightly off topic, but does it annoy anyone else that in even slightly wide resolutions, the content on the profile pages are not centred under the header menu?

It's horrible how all of this secrecy really makes me want in to the darned thing. I need to stop being such a sucker for social networking.

I was getting error messages on Facebook last week. (I got excited, thinking it might be the new profiles, but alas). I've only had one error page on Plurk, and it was one specific page. I've never had problems with the other three sites I "use" (Digg, aNobii and Last.fm), but I still like Plurk and Facebook the best.

Ok, that was useless information, but I'd say people don't really mind errors, because more often than not they come back within minutes. I think people understand that it's free, and that nothing can really be done on their part to fix it. It's just something that you come to expect when you use the Internet; people know that eventually there are going to be problems, and though they're slightly annoyed, it doesn't affect their "loyalty."

Well, I agree that filtering through social media can be tricky. Unfortunately I don't really have a problem with it.
More to the point, thanks for introducing me to Plurk. =P I find it far more intuitive than Twitter. It has an awesome personality...

So what'd you think? Better? Worse?

When they announced it yesterday on the Facebook Profiles Preview Page, I was a little shocked. It took me a second to realise what they were doing, but once I wrapped my head around it I really got to liking it. I think pages can interact well with this new design if they format them well, and everything will be framed nicely with this new header and the chat bar.

I wonder if it will be floating like the chat bar?

Ok, so I'm a little unclear about this. Facebook Connect will run off Google Friend Connect and will launch tonight?

Yeah, for students it was kind of a joke. High School and University Network Pages were filled with slander and people trying to sell their useless junk. I don't think I used them once.

I honestly don't really care about Facebook app developers. Facebook was great before applications and would probably still be great if they disappeared. I mean, the things have become a spammy mess and finding one that works well, consistently is a real challenge. And if I have to decline one more invitation to some ludicrous quiz or useless tool then I might just flip.

I think the new profiles will work really well. Having it tabbed, I think it will draw more attention to the individual information on peoples' profiles. Inputting your favourites, etc. will become a bit more important because it will have a tab focused on it.

I also know that people have been criticizing the fact that the wall and mini-feed have been combined, but I'm a huge fan of the idea. I can't really explain why, but I just think it's functional and makes sense. I can't wait for the new style to roll out.
