I'm a semi-un-frequent commenter, a regular reader, a Wordpress user, and a Professional Geek; and I'm confused at what I'm reading above.

Granted, I don't get a lot of the hate traffic you do, Randy. But I don't know if adding "extra protection" is the way to go.

But one thing I do agree, headaches suck.

Randy Frequent or not, I like it when you visit.

It's a new service with fun bells and whistles that will eventually absorbed into Wordpress. Disqus is always going to be third party and doesn't have all the bells and whistles. My concern is that the threaded comments in disqus will be rendered "flat" if imported into the Intense Debate structure.

Randy oh and thinks for the empathy on the headache.

I currently just use Spam Karma. But you can use it in conjunction with Akismet, or without.
In my experience, Akismet also had too many false positives, for my taste; and I currently just use Spam Karma.

Is that a geek question I hear?
I highly suggest Spam Karma: http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-ka...
It has been great at filtering out 99.99% of comment spam (even actual Spam Attacks), and I've only gotten a handful of false positives.
Bad Behavior, on the other hand, is a good, but tricky.

I've had too many good comments black listed for it to be effective.

Safer? (spoiler alert) - if we would have left Narnia alone, there would not be a telemarine presence terrorizing the peoples of Narnia. We have made Narnia a hotbed for Telemarine oppression!
The Telemarines will leave the Narnians alone only if we pull out immediately. (and stop the needless abuse of using Cheetahs as front line cannon fodder)

I'm offended that Randy is questioning my patriotism.

I'm simply wanting Peter and the Pevensie administration to address the issue of a Narnian Exit Strategy.

This has clearly been a war for Magic. And while we were promised a democracy, Peter and his clan have instituted nothing more than a tyranical oligarchy.

We need to get out of Narnia immediately.

Okay, I stand corrected. Cheetahs belong in the calvary, not the light brigade front line.
Centaurs, however, are fine front line light infantry.

Yes Yes, I felt that Peter needed more air support as well. He had air superiority, he barely used it.

Narnia is a quagmire, we should pull out now!

My only issue in the battle was the tactics.

No one starts with Cheatas in the front ranks, you use those as calvary! CALVARY!

And I would have let fly with the archers WAY sooner.

*disappointed in Peter's war strategy*
We need to pull out of Narnia this instant!

I must be one of those BlogFreaks who is fatherless. I created the precursor to Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com on a whim (it was a humor site) and Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com followed suit about a few weeks later.

Actually, now that I really think about it (it was now 5 years ago) my now defunct Geek-Brigade-dot-com domain was my first blog, it was inspired from seveal places, but never showed any signs of success.

How fitting that my blog has a shady past.
