in Hillary’s Come A Long Way From Wanting To Obliterate Iran on Jack and Jill Politics
As far as Hillary is concerned, Obama made a smart move. No, this was smart not because Hillary is all that--it is smart because PE Obama recognized the power that the Clintons have in the Democrat Party. He gives Hillary a prestigious job so that she can walk off the national stage with the type of honors that she and her supporters believe is fair.

I don't like or trust Hillary--but I think Obama knows how to play the political game with extreme skill.

But if Obama and Hillary start mess'n with left-progressive movements in Latin America, I will do everything in my power to oppose his presidency. Too many decades of deathsquad 'democracy' to accept more of the same. I don't think Obama is stupid enough to go this route---but I do know that there is a palpable anti-democratic bias with respect to corporate foreign policy.

Please, let's not remain silent when folks start talking about 'nuking'. To advocate this is to try to be bigger terrorists than anybody else.

The stupidity of talking about murdering millions of people really reflects the degree of insanity that prevails here in the US.

If the US or Israel nuke anyone--then look out, you or your family will get the same.

See where this creepy talk leads?

You can always spot the pedophilic fanatic when he or she starts talking about 'nuking' millions of people. Sick. Get hold of yourselves.

Please, we know that Michelle doesn't write this canned beggathon crap.

It will pain me to no end to see 'social justice' types African Americans become apologists for a good old fashioned house negro.

Obama will govern just like Clinton--which is good enough for the typical house negro.

in Burris Refused Seat in Congress — Let’s Play Racial Chicken! on Jack and Jill Politics
What is absurd about the Blogo debate is that pay-for-play is at the heart of how this country is run. Corruption is on the surface--it's the law. My point is that it is absurd to hear whining about 'corruption' from people that are inured to everyday, blatant exploitation and political oppression.

Following this, the entire effort to derail Burris is shabby. He was legally appointed--and I don't think that the Blogo connection will hurt the corrupt liberal party that represents US corporate/capitalist interests, the folks that run this country.

The phoney outrage is coming from people that can't muster the strength to speak out about the oppression that stares them in the face.

House negros calling other house negros bad names. LOL

From the slave quarters, this all seems pretty silly.

And you think masss is going to give you DC senators?! Not without shutting the US capital down, it ain't gonna happen. Beg all you want--the heartless bastards that benefit from political and racist oppression only want light-skinned house negros in the senate (and, to be true, they don't want any person in the senate that will place the interests of working class people over corporations).

Yes, I am with you on this one. You don't mess with kids and you respect your spouse. Period.

This is about basic human rights. End of story.

Of course there will be low people that will play games against innocent men and women--but if you don't respect your mother enough to draw the line on this important issue, you are way off track about what is correct behavior.

Women are the target of violence by men. If a woman isn't in the mood, or doesn't want to mess with you, if here feelings incline her to say 'no', then back off.

Every woman is a mother or a potential mother--treat her accordingly, as you would any mother or potential mother.

in BET, TVOne Plan Extensive Inauguration Coverage on Jack and Jill Politics
This is a no brainer for folks that cater to the African American demographic.

There will be pently of African American folks focused into these two channels for the inauguration, you can bank that. They will have high audience numbers because many African Americans trust the lily white major networks even less.

If I had cable (or a tv) I would be tuned into BET. I have almost forgave Tavis Smiely for the little games he played during the election cycle. Cornel West is my man!--simply a first-rate intellect with compassion that oozes from his semi-poetic discourse.

in Countdown to the Inauguration: 22 Days — Open Thread on Jack and Jill Politics
I love the African American man in the back ground. So pumped up. It was this type of energy that won this one for Obama (and the country).

Secondly, this clip epitomizes Obama's superior politics. Instead of denigrating Clinton, Obama's first instinct was to try to understand the larger forces that compelled Clinton to act they way she did.

What is awesome and masterful is the fact that Obama understood that after the election Clinton would have to be placated in a big way because her and Bill represent a huge, powerful segment of the Democratic Party. The way to accrue political capital is to coopt and placate those that would be inclined to stymie your adgenda. The SOS post for Hillary accomplished this end.

This guy takes US politics to a new level. He is the Michael Jordan of US politics, and he has a tremendous amount of good will projected toward him even before taking the oath of office.

Now, if he would only allow Reverand Right to accompany Warren on at the on January 20th, he would be perfect.

in Will Rick Warren Get a Pass, While Jeremiah Wright Is Flung Under The Bus? on Jack and Jill Politics
There's enough hypocrisy to go around--and yes Rev. W has been treated differently, and very unfairly. My problem with Reverend Wright is that he might be a bit more self aggrandizing than he should. Other than that, I have been heartened by his speaking out against war and racism.

Warren represents many of the folks that did not vote for Obama--but these are US citizens as well, and I think Obama takes seriously the notion that he will be president of all the people in the US.

Also, this is excellent politics--and, aside from being inclined toward social justice, Obama is an adept politician. He plays the game well.

With the problems that this nation faces, it only makes sense that Obama try to establish good will so that he can maximize his political capital.

Now, if Obama invited David Duke, then I would be nervous. Warren seems pretty harmless. For sure, he is a bit of a ham and an opprotunist, but I think he genuinely wishes good will toward most everyone.

This is a safe move by Obama, and it will pay back huge dividends down the road.

Constructive_Feedback
However, I will note that white Southern men (not all, of course) don't read books, and are some of the most knee-jerk anti-labor, anti-rights folk in this country.
Slave Revolt - by what rational construct do you make this case?
How can you prove this point any more than someone saying "Black people can't manage a baseball team just like they can't swim"?

Anti-Labor
Anti-Rights?

Slave Revolt - If you consider the employment rates for the past 10 years the "racist South" has been one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. How is your claim anything more than a bigoted, ignorant reference?

Do Black people read books? What framework can you use to bear this claim out? Is it anything more than you having audience with a network of fellow bigots who aren't going to challenge you that you can spew this garbage? I thought that progressives were inclusive and tolerant?

Anti-Rights?
Slave Revolt - based on my research on the community that I am most interested in - the Black Community - there are far more CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS taking place WITHIN THE VARIOUS BLACK COMMUNITIES today than any other area of the nation.

No these Racist White Southern Men are not jumping into their pickups and doing night raids upon us Black folks. The system of "Witness Intimidation", Low "HOMICIDE CLOSURE RATES" which allow killers to walk free and "Taking the law into your own hands" aggregate to produce an "Anti-Civil Rights Gumbo".

The problem is that certain bigoted Progressive-Fundamentalists can't accept that unchecked Black on Black crime can be a ANTI-RIGHTS environment. The fact that many loved one's never receive JUSTICE over the murder or assault of their loved one is just TOO BAD.....he got attacked by a person who was the WRONG COLOR for the Civil Rights Actor-vists to come in and exploit for their own greater purposes.

The worst ANTI-UNIONISM in this nation, Slave Revolt is the RUST BELT REGION of the United States. There are so many POTENTIAL union workers but the aggregate policies of the region chased away the "CONSUMERS OF LABOR". Thus these potential union workers don't have anywhere to actually EXPRESS their union labor rates.

Popular Culture in the US, with its glaring whiteness, has always creeped me out.

Hopefully, the Obama presidency and the representation of these precious girls will move the nation into a more inclusive, more sane and just direction.

One thing is for sure, Michelle and Barack will have their hands full trying to keep these blooming young ladies grounded. But I think they have the wisdom to do it.

I love these girls---like all kids, they have that spark of light that simply cuts through the cynisim and disease that hobbles our nation. Bless them.

(Wonder how the little ones will adjust to their new bedrooms. These are awefully big rooms--and who knows what kind of monsters might be under the bed! Suffice to say--no scary movies for them.)

whiterosebuddy Yes, you are so right SR

That is why I am so proud that Michelle has stated clearly she is First Mom, first.
Shepharding children through adolescence and childhood is a full time job and there is nothing as difficult and rewarding as guiding humans to their full potential.

I am happy that she can choose, having herself, developed her own potential that she is now prepared and ready to share that wonder and esteem as she nurtures the same individuality of spirit in her daughters to be all that womanhood has to offer. She is an awesome role model.

I take great pleasure in knowing the range of women's choices today and feel proud that we have them. It was only when the full spectrum of womanhood is limited as to how it can be expressed that it becomes a hindrance. Choices are liberating.

in Dollar Bill Jefferson FINALLY is beaten on Jack and Jill Politics
I would like to note Mr. Malik Rahim--he came in third in this race.

Mr. Rahim is an activist, and was one of the brave, decent people that helped the folks of New Orleans after Katrina.

More, the man has been very crucial toward getting hundreds of young activists from around the world to participate in various projects toward healing the New Orleans area.

He ran as a Green Party candidate, and if he had won it would have been incredible.

However, the man doesn't hold back his views when it comes to the corruption of the capitalist system and US imperialism--therefore he is shunned by weatlhy elites--African American and white--in our country.

I admire the man, and I call him a friend.

in Obama As A Political Leader on The Jed Report
Sorry Jed, but Obama will have to prove to me that he stands with 'the common man" rather than the corporate tyranny.

Will 18,000 US citizens stop dying because they/we can't access basic quality health care in the near future? Will we ever get out of Iraq? Will there ever be a mandated and indexed 'living wage' in the US?

I donated time, sweat, and money toward getting Obama in office--and it is sad but true that I really don't see him accomplishing more than Clinton: tepid reforms as our corporate tyranny down-sizes and pauperizes the US working class.

Any cursory review of US history should incline one to be skeptical.

True-believership is pathetic--on the right or the left of the political spectrum.

When Obama attacks the Venezuelan government and Hugo Chavez as being 'undemocratic'--this brings it all home to anyone with half a brain and can read history.

How many more innocent civilians of this world will we allow to be exterminated as a result of our blood-lust and fanatical state-terrorism?

When will the liberal-left stop being willfully deluded as to the scope of our complicity?

Sorry, I cannot afford stary-eyed delusion. Not this time.

Obama will have to prove that he is different--he got my vote and money, but he will have to earn my admiration and respect.

johnwest Excellent dose of reality, Slave Revolt.

Unfortunately, this is America. Corporations are here to stay. They employ our people. Some have treated their employees well, and offered them incredible advancement in life.

I don't like corporations or Big Business, nor do I hate them.

Welcome to the 21st century. Whether we like it or not, General Electric, GM, and United States Steel have gotten their asses kicked by Siemens, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, LG, Hitachi, Daimler-Benz.....the list goes on.

We are on a downward spiral. You can blame greedy American corporations, but yet we are all still in this together.

Obama must work within the system, and no human being can change "the rules" in four years.

Hope for slow, but steady progress...radical change is not in the cards, at least on the domestic economic front, no matter who promised you what.

Now, on the foreign policy front, I am starry eyed still. Give Barack the benefit of your doubt for now.

Toot died knowing that her death would be at the exact moment so that it would increase the probability that Barack would be elected. She knew he would win--but, hey, every damned point counts.

She was with Barack from the beginning--when many, 'average white folks' would have disowned both Barack and his mom. Mrs. Dunham was no 'average white' folk--yet, like all of us, she was only human. Only angels shit gold.

Barack traveled at the exact right time, and I am sure she imparted some stark wisdom on the man, the kind of wisdom that only a long-time mentor and critic can. This was special. Barack made an awkward attempt to recollect his experiences as a youth, by walking the same streets. What a difference thirty years makes. You can never go home again--the path to the mountain top is arduous, and one way.

Has anyone mentioned that this move to internationalize this crisis by purchasing these bonds has EVERYTHING to do with shoring up the value of the US dollar?

If the dollar plunges, look for oil prices to rise considerably--and it seems that there is upward pressure on oil at this moment.

This ride is not over yet. And, remember, Obama has to appear presidential--the financial capital wing of the US ruling class backs Obama, and McCain is already being attacked for being too 'populist'.

There will be time for Obama to craft an economic policy and shift the macro-direction of the US economy--when he wins and is in office.

If Obama were to panic the markets with any incindiary rhetoric, the establishment will destory him.

Things are moving fast--but the economic meltdown will take much, much longer.

The black protesters/hecklers will indeed help Obama--just as Jesse Jackson's comments did.

This is psychological war people--and Obama knows how to play the game and win. He's two steps ahead of the rightwing.

About the photo---Obama is a natural with kids, they trust his core instincts and it shows.

Kids have natural instincts toward fairness, ecological wisdom, and good will--and it is not until we adults pollute their minds that they start becoming cynical, and losing their natural beauty.

Kids rule! Give kids 8 years old and up the effen vote. If children were decently educated they would make wise decisions--but we accept an education system that is diseased, and props up the power of the ruling classes.

It don't have to be that way folks. Take your country back--and you can start with Barack.

in The next generation on Gotham Gal
I think your heart is in the right place, but you haven't even explored the rudiments of your subject matter--education and the public good in the United States.

As essential, I would recommend John Taylor Gatto's "Underground History of American Education". Gatto was teacher of the year for New York state, and you can download the entire book free online. So there is no excuse for wallowing in your own ignorance.

First off, you have to understand that social/politcal elites don' t want poor people to use education to challenge the status quo. This is on the level of truism anywhere in the world.

All this talk about 'choice' in the contexts of huge disparities in resources is quite hypocritical and points up the depth to which critical thinking skills have been retarded in the US.

Lastly, the fact that you don't support Unions implicates you in a massive brainwashing directed at the population of the US on behalf of the people that would configure you into a life of wage-slavery. Really, what are you saying and advocating when you don't want workers to have a voice in the conditions of their work? This is the slave-mentality that is bringing to US down to the level of thrid-world squalor.

There is no use even having a discussion when your general ignorance on these issues cannot be challenged. Read Gatto's book, then engage a community in a deeper discussion--then get off your ass and do something about what you see as wrong. But this would require sacrifice, changing your behavior, and no solely blaming others for the dire situation that you are concerned about.

rachel I think accusing someone of believing in slavery because they don't support unions is a bit harsh and absurd. Of course the GG thinks people should have a voice in the "conditions" of their work, but there are many groups of people who effectively have a voice and are treated well without unions.

The strategy is clear right now: attack the media. Play the game that the corproate media are in the tank for Obama. We are victims of these socialists!

That will play well to the low-information voter; they will eat it up.

Obama needs to stay on the theme: it's the economy stupid. McLame voted against raising the minimum wage 19 times--as Americans work longer hours for less money, and corporations off-shore decent jobs, etc.

Economic populism, if engaged correctly, will win this election.

The the voting public respects tax cuts for the already tremendously wealthy while their neighbors loose their homes, health insurance, and their invested wealth--what the hell can one say about this? A massive collapse couldn't happen to more deserving people.

I know, I know--that line won't play well....but, wtf!, I am just say'n.
