in Key stuck on your Passat ignition? on blindsquirrel.org
Michael, I can definitely see how that can happen, but in my case at least, I must have moved that shifter 100 times and it never made a difference. It wasn't until I hit that button a couple of times that it finally released.
What's interesting is that this happened a few times and has not happened since.

in iTunes, you have a problem on blindsquirrel.org
Dr G, you were so close, but no conspiracy intended. My point was actually the opposite; I was stating that if a share holder won't use the product, what chance do they have with a regular consumer?
No Walmart stock - I'm one of the guys that thinks Walmart's practices helped make China the economic power house it is today, all at the expense of the American economy. Remember the days when Walmart used to advertise "Made In America?"

in Will the Scobles wait in line for 3G iPhone? on Scobleizer
I'm betting you'll still be in line. The build up will eventually get to you. I've read your stuff for a long time now and you just don't seem like someone that is built to wait for anything. It won't be just about 3G. Won't we see 2.0 of the software then as well?
I predict you'll not only be in line, but you'll stream it live on Qik, send at least 80 tweets, keep a friendfeed going, and post a few pics on flickr. ;p

in Burned by DST and a formerly great thin client on blindsquirrel.org
We'll never find a solution. We made the decision to replace them all over a couple of years. What a shame. Changing the timezone isn't the big deal, but any Outlook appointments that people make during the extended period end up wrong when we change the timezones back. Frustrating. We decided to go with Wyse and end it.

Let's say your OWA site is http://OWA.yoursite.com. What happens when you go to http://OWA.yoursite.com/Exchange or https://OWA.yoursite.com/Exchange (not sure if you have a cert, etc.)

Yes! I connect to an Exchange2003 OWA server just about every day with the Touch.

in Make your MacMini sound much better on Scobleizer
I have the original non intel Mac Mini and recently added a small device from M-Audio (Transit, maybe?) that allowed me to take the Mini running Leopard to my optical input of my home theater. The Mini had already allowed me to remove the CD player from my shelves and thanks to the M-Audio I got to remove the DVD player as well. The Mini has been fantastic connected to my 60" Sony and it's funny watching my 12 year old getting her homework done on the TV using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
Owning the Mini has been what stops me from owning an AppleTV. Long live the Mini.

in PowerBook G4 hard drive upgrade - so close on blindsquirrel.org
Yes. It's been a while, but I don't think I ever got it to boot from the external enclosure but I put it in the PowerBook and it ended up working.

in The feuding over my Facebook fetish on Scobleizer
I definitely wasn't knocking Robert and have always felt I was a pretty quick learner. It was more about hearing about it so much. The guy's definitely passionate about it! I understand. It's exciting. He's excited.
I'm hoping the lightbulb does go off for me at some point, but I'm not so sure I have the proper time to give to FB like I probably need to. The key to me seems to be all of the applications, as it seems FB is a framework - a platform.
Now where did I leave that blinder removal kit? ;p

in Firefox on Macs giving people fits on Scobleizer
I used to have problems with FF, Camino and Safari on Google Reader all the time. I usually have Reader running as one of 3 table that I use all day and I never shut my MacBook Pro down, just put it to sleep as I go back and forth between place. I just figured that having it open forever was causing the issue and would just close the Reader tab, reopen it, and I'd be good for a couple more days. I tried the Safari Beta and have not seen this at all and have had pretty much nothing but positive things to say about the beta, so I now use the Webkit nightlies and life has been pretty sweet.
I think Apple finally nailed it.

in Who said Google Reader isn’t fast? on Scobleizer
You must be using it on Windows because it gets dog slow and the CPU spikes to 100% when I use it on my G4 PowerBook regardless of Safari, Camino, or Firefox. When I use it with Firefox on Windows is flies and never bogs down.

in Worst…GPS…Ever on blindsquirrel.org
The one I ended up with and use a lot is the Garmin Nuvi 350. They have dropped a few hundred buck from when I bought mine. They also came out with the Nuvi 360, which added bluetooth connectivity. The 350 has been excellent for me.

in Can Google Reader replace NetNewsWire? on blindsquirrel.org
I would agree that it is not as good as NNW, especially because of the lack of search capabilities (hello? this is a Google product, right?). But for my needs, Reader has really been excellent and I removed NNW from my Dock.

in Possibly my last Citrix iForum for a while on blindsquirrel.org
Thanks for the comment Tal. Presentation server just played a much lesser role this year. Citrix now has a lot of different products to talk about so the Presentation Server pieces were few and far between. The one session I went to on Presentation Server futures was in a large room and was still standing room only. That tells me I am not alone in my opinion here.
The rest of the stuff, while impressive, has an uphill battle trying to get in our door because it would have to de-throne Cisco and F5, which will not be easy to do in our shop.
We actually won a pair of the WANScalers and hope to get the network team to evaluate them based on the fact that we have a free pair. We'll see how that goes.
Thanks again for replying. I'll wait and see what the Agenda is for the next iForum before I decide what to do.

in Yep, definitely Camino on blindsquirrel.org
For me, Safari gets hung up too often on certain sites. I've done all the suggestions for clearing cace, deleting favicons, etc., but it still seems to struggle for me. If you have a link to any of those benchmarks I would like to see them so I can see where Safari is faster.
Maybe the real problem is java/javascript, as even Camino now has some issues with Google Reader taking the CPU to 100% for extended periods of time. I don't see this when I use Firefox on Windows.
Thanks for the comment.

in All the good stuff is on other blogs on Scobleizer
I couldn't agree more. I decided to try to live with just Google Reader instead of NetNewsWire (which is a fine feed reeder) and it looks like I won't be heading back to NNW any time soon.
