Rick,

No apology necessary. I was just frustrated yesterday when I couldn't get it set up. I found the widget, installed it, configured it with my hosted gmail email address and password. It works, to a certain degree. Netvibes will show new messages on my home Netvibes page. However, I still have to login to my google hosted account. Since I provided the email address/password, I was expecting to click the email message and have the message open, without me having to go through the steps of logging in.

Great conference! I give credit to the organizers, and of course, the sponsors. With an opening keynote by Jared Spool and a closing keynote on accessibility by Derek Featherstone, it was just the type of conference for my interests.

All kinds of sessons by respected web professional leaders with easy access to the leaders made it an exceptional conference.

Hi Ari,

Will the CSS Summit be similar to the online <head> conference that was held last October? Will Adobe Connect be used to manage the presentations?

I attended <head> last fall, and loved the format! Adobe Connect made it easy to interact with the speakers and meet others through the chat facility. What really helped was to:

1. have someone monitor the chat, to pass on questions to the speaker, It's hard for a speaker to present, and manage chat at the same time.
2. have someone available to manage technical issues the speaker/audience might have

If Adobe Connect is used for the conference, can you consider making the chat for the presentations available to the conference attendees? I realize there's a lot of work involved with creating a video, but having a copy of the chat is really helpful.

If not a video, have you considered making podcasts available?

Nice tips for non-profits. Not sure if you knew this already, but the video on this page doesn't display in Opera 9.61 under Windows Vista. At first, I thought there was some issue with the page display, but changed to Firefox and could view the video on the page.

Hard to say. I did a quick look at the code, but couldn't identify the issue. There are other issues on the page causing validation errors in the code, so it's hard to isolate the issue with the video.

I have a client that wants to have the functionality of the uploading/downloading files built into their website. This article led me to YouSendIt's SiteDrop facility, which can be added to a website. The SiteDrop featurea is an add-on for the YouSendIt business account.

When I figured out the final cost, it looks to be around US $60/month to use business YouSendIt and SiteDrop, more than what I had expected and planned.

Do you know of any other third party applications that might provide this type of functionality?

I was glad to hear your good news about upgrading WordPress with this plugin. Like you, I was very concerned about upgrading. I used the plugin, and it worked, but I could not download the backup files.

While I'm glad the upgrade worked (at least I think it worked! I'm still checking the pages), I was very disappointed that it did not allow me to download the backup files.

Each time I tried to download, all I got was a page not found error. I checked the files online to see if they were on my site, but couldn't find the backup files. All I found in the wpau-backup folder were an empty index.php and an empty index.html file, with no content.

Being the cautious person I am, I did do a backup before I ran the plugin. I was glad it worked! But a bit concerned that the plugin's backup didn't work.

Yes, the site I used this on has been updated correctly and is showing the most recent version.

Good suggestion. I'll turn off the plugins the next time, before I use the upgrade plugin. Hopefully I'll remember to come back and report if it worked any better!

I have a WordPress.com account, but didn't realize it could be used for my OpenId. I created my OpenId with myopenid last year.

Hmmm... I didn't take any steps to copy my Firefox 2 bookmarks for the Firefox 3 install.

I simply downloaded Firefox 3, and then ran the install. My bookmarks appeared without any extra steps for in the new installation. My add-ons appeared without any issues, either. For those add-ons that weren't compatible with version 3, I used Nightly Tester Tools at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/... and all the add-ons worked fine.
