I totally agree with your points, they claim that huge figure for the cost of the software, but really it could just be some overpriced, poorly coded software that you will never use that is bumping the total up.
If the software offered is anywhere near the quality of the MacPack website I wouldn't be suprised. MacPack for me? No way.
PS: If you check their forum, there has already been problems!
I find it sad that not only the trackpad, but the firewall needs to be setup when you get a new Mac, this is especially annoying for a novice user, because they may not even realise these haven't been setup, and may even think the trackpad is faulty.
