When you have a viable alternative to regional flights the prices come down, when you have a viable alternative to driving, fuel demand goes down. In all scenarios, high speed rail is the winner.

Re: How To Use 3D Sketches To Reduce SolidWorks Features

I've done both ways. The faster way is the one you've suggested Dale but I've had issues where I wanted more control over the feature and the video solution allows for a few more degrees of control.

Re: SolidSmack Bares It All Today

Heh, I changed browsers because I though that FF3 wasn't working properly after I updated.

Re: PDM Assassin: Combine the Best, Eliminate the Rest (Could it Ever Be?)

You're preaching to the choir from my side. It is obvious that Rudy is targeting Clinton rather than any of the other Repubs. I think he is being too far sighted and will get side swiped by either Thompson (by carrying the religious wackos that make up the majority of *MY* party) or Paul (who has the following of a large number of his own wackos... although they are wackos I can at least understand and identify with at times).

Re: Hacking Japan: Inside Tokyo for Less than New York

How could you possibly make a how-to guide of Tokyo and NOT include the required paragraph about a ramen shop?!? :D

Certainly Japan can be fairly inexpensive and on the flip side it can be ridiculously expensive. It depends on what you want and trust me that you can have anything you want, it only takes money.

Here are the things that you just cannot get away without paying more than you're used to which I refer to as the 3B's:
Beer = $6-10 per bottle
Beef = Not so cheap (even at an all you can eat Shabu-shabu)
B*tches = Gentlemen's clubs and/or Hostess clubs (if you can even get in, foreigners are often discriminated against and barred entry from these establishments) are fairly expensive ... uh... not that I would know ;D

Re: International Iron Man Teaser Movie Trailer

Looks like a comic book movie might actually be worth a damn for a change.

Re: Could The Dark Knight Sink the Titanic?

TDK hasn't even been released in some markets yet. Here in Japan it opens today. I checked at lunch today, the shows are sold out until next Wednesday at the three largest cinemas nearest my apartment.

I think TDK will have fewer problems surpassing Titanic than most people think.

Re: Japan Hates The Dark Knight?!

Jon - I don't think Speed Racer is out here in Japan yet. If I remember correctly it is this weekend. Then again I may be mistaken. In either case, I won't be watching it.

I went to TDK once with some colleagues and they were luke warm at best. Then I went again with my wife and a few other foreign couples. They all loved it. The contrast was quite striking.

Most of the Japanese I've talked to have said that it is the character of Batman that just doesn't do it for them. The anti-hero character just doesn't seem to play well. The inner conflict of Bruce Wayne, the outer demons of Batman, the vigilante as a hero seem to be concepts that aren't fully grasped.

Re: New Iron Man Photos: Tony Stark – “Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy”

Robert, the only reason I can think of hating this movie right now is that it will be 3 hours too short.

Re: New OS X “Trojan” In the Wild

Stu, as more and more people get sucked into the *NIX world with n00b friendly Linux distros (like Ubuntu) and OSX then you will see it has nothing to do with Windows, just uninformed (and yes sometimes stupid) users.

As the population increases, the hackers will try new attack vectors.
