cloudsxonfire NOTTTT like that, silly.

matt got a DUI, and he's now sober, so instead of him being wasted on his bed when i'm at his house, we'll actually get to hang out and talk like we used to, go out on the lake, etc. haha. that's what i meant by things looking up.

cloudsxonfire i live in rochester, dude. this is where i pay my rent, where i am registered to vote, and where i've lived for the better majority of the past 2 years, and where i'll continue to live till at least 2012.. sooo, i think that can count as home?

ex: i think it's safe to assume that if someone asked you where you live, you'd say DC? exactly.

i love kzoo, but i'm never living there for more than a couple weeks at a time ever again.

in Op Ed: The Wrong Side of Digital, Those Who Overlook and Those Who Overreach (Part 2) - mediabistro.com: AgencySpy on mediabistro.com: AgencySpy
anyone can come up with an idea. ideas are not king. discipline to take ideas and tie them to brand insights and metrics win ... i, myself, have come up with thousands of them, still waiting for my cut of music cards, super magnets and fruit available at fast food restaurants. people who can take an idea and actually understand what it takes to make it work deserve the credit. you will be knocked off your agency high horse soon enough.

just coming up with "a virtual street, or a look inside our commercial, or a place where people can talk" is not a digital idea that you deserve credit for. try it... one week spend time with your sister digital shop. sit with the creative director, the account people, the developers... try to understand what they do and how. you will feel dumb and as small as you should in the process.

hold on to that "tough shit" attitude when you are laid off and can't get a job. that is all the sympathy you will be getting... tough shit.

Screw Steele, unless he forcefully comes out against RINO Senators and cuts off their money supply from the RNC.

"And government spending cannot be debt-financed forever. And he can only inflate so much of it away."

Don't be so sure.

$10T in debt with 10% inflation reduces the real debt by $1T a year.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

As PJ O'Rourke supposedly remarked, "No one has ever dreamed of being tied to a bed and ravished by a liberal."

Not supposedly; it was in one of his books, which I have on my shelf. He was discussing the fantasy that many women have of being raped by a Nazi.

And I win the Godwin Award.

in Report: Creed reunion in the works >> LiveDaily on LiveDaily News & Music
Are you people on here kidding me, Creed has to be one of the best bands to see live and the CDS they put out all rock. Give me an fing break. Yeah, Scott Srapheave isnt the greatest human being on earth, but who is. His voice kicks and this band rocked when they were together. I for one, hope this happens. Go back and listen to some of the great songs this band put out, like with arms wide open, ode, whats this life for..Great great tunes, any true rock fan will admit to that...

in Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2 on /Film
Don Cheadle ALWAYS a great actor Terrence Howard at times a GREAT actor. Both men under appreciated. As for which can play Rodes ...if they were going to use Cheadle they should have started out that way. That said if Cheadle is directed correctly, (case and point when people heard Ledger was going to be the Joker, they freaked...then he was directed GREAT) there could be potential for amazing chemistry, With Cheadle being somewhat serious and Stark always there to lighten the mood, it could work GREAT !

"her Upper-Midwest-sounding accent"

WTF?

Richard Daley has a Midwestern accent. That police chief gal from FARGO had a Midwestern accent.

Palin's is closer to Northwestern (with some tinges of Canadian) since, you know, she's from Alaska.

Where are you from, again?

Michelle Obama has been making $350K+ plus for years as a VP of the U of Chicago Hospitals. She had a really really hard job in charge of "community outreach." They have been in a position to pay off their student loans for cash for probably a decade.
jr565 and she didn''t HAVE to go to Princeton or Harvard. She could have gone to a CUNY school. But I'm going to mourn for the fact that she has student loans when she went to Harvard AND Princeton?
Bogey check what she was making before that. After she quit Sidley and Austin, she was making diddly squat for years.

I'm not sure what you people are complaining about.

she has not complained about her loans
she has not complained about her jobs
she has not complained about her education

the one time she DID complain was when she and B were accused of being "not black enough".

that's when she said I don't know what people want, we did all the things we were told to do, studied hard, got an education, etc.

I wonder why nobody is quoting her saying THAT :)

in Valleywag on “drunken employee” in datacenter on Scobleizer
You're wrong Scoble. I spend all day in data centers (multiple ones, well known big ones and smaller ones too) and an employee with the right set of keys could wreak havoc in a matter of minutes. You could walk up, unlock racks and start jerking out cables (power, network). Each rack would takes less than 30 seconds to completely hose for a while (not total destruction, just chaos). Network cables would be worthless, power downs, etc. Give me 5 minutes with a master key (oh yes they exist) and I could ruin the weeks for several admins.

in InFusion Brings You Portable Wireless Radio on blog.jr.com
HD Radio/IBOC is a fraud and a farse - IBOC causes adjacent-channel interference and has only 60% the coverage of analog. Consumer sales of HD radios has been anemic - HD Radio will fail, as AM Stereo did in the 1980's.

in Social Security Crisis on Infinite Earths on Will Wilkinson
There is no SS "Trust Fund." Or rather, there is, but it means literally nothing.

Let's start at the beginning. Exactly what is a bond? A bond is a promise of one entity to pay an amount of money to another on a specific date in the future, typically with interest. Sometimes it's backed by collateral, sometimes not. Right?

So the SS "Trust Fund," a *part of the Federal Government*, has some "extra" money laying around after honoring current obligations. It "loans it" to another *part of the Federal Government* and gets some bonds, which it lays aside. OK, great.

Now, when the time comes in 2018 or whenever, the "Trust Fund," *a part of the Federal Government*, send the bonds to another *part of the Federal Government* and asks for the cash.

But the latter HAS NO CASH, and no assets, other than the ability to borrow or extract the money from citizens. So it has to tax somebody currently, or borrow from yet a third party, to fulfill the obligation.

It's not like the money originally loaned goes into constructing a building or something, creating an asset which throws off income.

It's exactly the same as if I "funded" my retirement by writing myself an IOU with my right hand and put it in my left pocket. $1,000,000 or $5,000,000 or $1,000,000,000,000, it makes no difference. It MEANS NOTHING.

Or to try it another way, I could loan money to my wife, and she could pay me interest every year and eventually return me the principal. But if we always put all our assets and income in the same pot, the transactions don't MEAN ANYTHING.

By analogy, the "Trust Fund" could therefore be $1 or $1,000,000,000,000,000,000 . It is an utterly meaningless construct.
