Love this song! Great thoughts... I graduated from college about a year ago, and have done a lot of thinking about whether or not I consider myself "adult" now, but I think being in the process of growing up is a great place to be!

I've really struggled with all of this as I became a mom four years ago. For me, the struggle was in letting go of what I was identified as outside of being a mom and being perfectly content with just being known as, both to my children and to everyone else, as a mom.


My daughter has some significant behavioral and medical special needs that have prevented me from doing almost anything outside of my home, or outside of simply being a mother 24/7. I have had to learn to rest in setting aside anything else that I am or can do aside from mothering for this season. I don't know how long it will last, but this is where God has me.



While I think He does create all of us with more than a single purpose or vision, I do believe He calls some women to simply be solely, only mothers for a variety of reasons.



Finding where I fit in to a group of women, based on these circumstances (I'm not "just" a mother, but then, that's all I am right now) is very difficult.

yeah i think marriage and parenting should be a package deal. in most cases, that is the ideal condition for raising a child. boyfriend/girlfriend relationships usually dont last long and if it is a relationship that will last long, you might as well get married

i have a bazillion blank books, or books that have writing/drawing on just the first few pages! i even bought myself a new one for christmas. of course i can't find that one in the chaos that is my house!


if you find a way to stay on top of the journal thing, please let me know!!

I wish more people who ask for link exchanges would read something like this. I'd add one thing, that before asking to trade links that the blogger make sure the blog actually does link trades. I don't (except for a network like Entrecard and now the Blogger Follow thing) so it does get annoying to get those form letters telling me I should be honoured to be asked to trade links.

I am a wife, mother, and practicing attorney. At one time, I thought that I could do it all. Now I have two kids and work full time, and I've begun to question my views on women working outside the home. Through my experience, I've come to the conclusion that you can't have it all. I feel incapable of being a good wife, mother, Christian, and employee, but I'm desperately trying to do it all. I am an ardent defender of the capability of women to work and lead, but I'm also a defender of the roles that I believe Scripture has clearly defined for men and women. I don't think those roles exclude wives and mothers from working outside the home, but I believe that parents should prayerfully consider the impact of both parents working outside the home will have on their family.


I felt the pressure to become a career woman and do more than "just stay at home." I think our culture now has gone in the opposite direction and doesn't value women who sacrifice to stay at home with their children. Some of my friends tend to feel like they're not accomplishing anything, and that's so not true.



Before I had children, I had no idea how strong my desire would be to stay at home and nurture them. My perception of stay-at-home moms was so skewed. Now, I long to be at home, but because I chose to borrow money to pursue an education to become the successful career person that I thought I wanted to be, I have to work. I do enjoy my job, but I wish I actually had the choice to stay at home.



I will defend Palin's capability to do the job of the vice president, but I will question whether such a demanding position is prudent for anyone (man or woman)with four children at home.

What about voting on the behalf of unborn babies who are being killed by the second who don't have a voice? Yes we should respect animals, but a human life should come first.

i live in florida and beached out so for my honeymoon in february we're going to a cabin in mountains, it will be february and i've never seen snow before and it will be secluded and theirs a jacuzzi and NO TV.

Every time I think the Clinton campaign can't do anything worse, they do.

My view is that Clinton would have played the victim card no matter what and drawn this out for days if not weeks depicting herself as Poor Little Hillary. This would have dominated everything else - especially since she wants to distract attention from how the NAFTA-Canada story is coming back to bite her, and how she is angering so many Democrats with her all-but-endorsement of McCain. Obama would not have been able to get any of his message through if he was fighting her over Power the whole time.



By resigning right away, Power took the issue off the table and left Clinton with nothing more she can reasonably demand. If she keeps going on about it after this, she looks incredibly vindictive. Hopefully it will be a one or two day story, that's all.



And Obama is able to get back to presenting his message to voters.



I wish that Power had not had to resign, but I think it was necessary after what she said in order to keep it from overwhelming everything else.
