A few years back. I was looking for a portable DVD player. This was back in the day, before smart phones and pre-every single laptop comes with a DVD player-era.

I asked the sales person how much the DVD player weighed. Ostensibly, a reasonable question for a portable device.

And the guy replied "you can buy a scale next door".

It was a funny exchange, especially since the rep was entirely serious.

Re: Amazon.com prepares to sell low-cost XO laptops -- with a catch

Doesn't make sense to me. You can buy a solid "netbook" today for $350. Radio Shack has them.

The WSJ had an article about a variety of portable computers/net within the $300-$500 price range:
http://ptech.allthingsd.com/20081105/netbooks-c...

Re: Amazon.com prepares to sell low-cost XO laptops -- with a catch

Good points.

In general, I think we should be concerned with sending things like RICE & FOOD to children in third world countries...

Re: Would you pay $99 for a Zune?

Another great thing about owning a Zune is that you're permitted to park in a handicapped parking space.

Re: 'Life Takes Vista' goes dark, for now

Thanks Todd for the post.
