IDGI looks like it's being manipulated.
10 up days in a row since 5/5.
13.2 mil shrs traded that day!!

I short under a buck all the time but I know alot of folks that don't.
Doesn't bother me at all,have made a bunch of $$ on the sub buckers.

Finding shrs to short IDGI,that may not be easy though.

IDGI may be for real but it is being heavily promoted from what I've heard.
Some of these manipulated ones can run gradually up for quite sometime.
Tim has charts of these somewhere on here.
Look at the LBAS chart from 10/23/07.
IT WENT UP EVERY DAY UNTIL 11/29/07 until it got destroyed on 11/29 going from hod 4.97 to 2.66 close!
The next day it closed at 2.20 after hitting an insane 1.30 trading on its highest volume day ever!

Watching the premarket action and knowing how certain stocks should react at the open is vital to maximize an account imo.

PEIX opened at 3.80 and closed at 5.14 and is up in afterhours!
BCON opened at 1.28 and hit hod 1.57 closing at 1.45
CDY opened at 3.38 and hit hod 3.50 closing at 3.42,not so great but I'll take it
CPSL opened at 6.49 and hit a hod of 8.48 closing at 7.96!

Jumped all 4 right after open,had a very good day with these plus ahhhhhhh,the power of 52 week highs and max momo:

I hate to bust on Tims bubble,and not trying to, but dude you don't have to wait for the perfect set-up imo.
I eat because I trade,in other words I can't WAIT 2 weeks for the "perfect"( there is no such thing anyway,this is a form of gambling,yeah you can put the odds in "your favor" but they still go wrong,you gotta admit that ).
In other words I TRADE FOR A LIVING, it's not some account worth $2k and a quick get rich "hobby"
I was questioned yesterday on this site when I said a breach of $7 on SSN was a short signal.
Today it sits at 4.90
I know my stocks and have traded under $10 stocks for 2 decades both long and short,

You screen for stocks BY SCREENING FOR ADR(10) and moves over OR under 15% in the last 2 days.
You screen for stocks ( a scan really not a filter ) that have run AT LEAST 10% 10 times in the last 100 days combined with ADR(30)over 8%.

Tim,
I respect and do admire what you've do/have done BUT I still feel I'm right.
There are folks out there that this isn't a hobby or a part time thing to them.
You are not reaching out to those folks.
I guess this isn't your objective and ok I understand that.
But I think you gotta admit, I think there is little difference between a 90% chance of reward or a 60% chance.
The market is a gamble no matter how you look at it and waiting for that what you think is a "90% chance" every 2 weeks is really stretching it.

Loved "Live Stock", great job!
I know you know how/where to find these pumped stock plays but I know most newbies do not.
This is how I find potential companies to do more DD on.
Very simple but it works for me unreal.
This was taught to me by my friend Muddy who I believe you know.
Go over to http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/ and on the right are links to "important posts".
Click on "Former Zero Volume Stocks".
It brings up this simple scan ( from Stockfetcher ):

stocks where volume is 500 percent above average volume(90)
and price is between .05 and 20
and date offset is 0

All ya gotta do is use the date offset and you will find, IF you do a little work to chart them,a few stocks that traded 0 volume in the very recent past and have gotten huge vol increases in the recent days since this 0 volume.
Imo these are the ones that are being pumped/promoted/manipulated,fluff pr being put out whatever you what to call it that's what's happening.
To go from 0 vol to a million+ shares in a day or few days,come'on it's not rocket science to figure these are the pumps etc.
A great example is with a date offset of 4/22/08.
It brings up VDTI which traded 0 vol only 4 days earlier and 323 shares the day after, it traded 7 MILLION shares on 4/22!!
Coincidence it ran from .36 that day to a hod 1.04 3 days later.
Nope I don't think so,it's all in that simple scan.
Coincidence it fell from that 1.04 to .17 2 days later,nope again!( it now sits at .05,what a joke that pos was ).

I truly hope every newbie on this site reads and at least gives this a try,if they are too lazy to chart 'em and dd 'em oh well,that's their fault.
Success is being off the mainstream ( as you have certainly proved )and working for it to at least some degree.
Simple works,try it.

I'm BOTH short and long.
In my latest post on Muddy's blog I said this about UNCL:

I also checked out UNCL seeing that the volume went from 44k Thursday to 2.5 million Friday!
Only news I could find was a seemingly fluff PR a few days ago and found it's in the business of student loans.
Kinda a shaky business it seems now with all the loan defaults.
IB has about 100,000 shares available to short.
I'll be in line.
Disclaimer,if it starts to run Tues I'll be on that train by going long first, then will try a short later when it does eventually turn red.
The volume Friday says it should be an "in play" stock.

I ride the "hot" in play stocks both ways,often going long if it starts to run on volume spikes and then selling and going the opposite way SHORT on it if it gets going down to negative ( red ).

Yes I keep the minimum required to keep a Scottrade account,$500,so I can use their scrolling HOD list.
Me, I couldn't live without that feature.
I can jump on momo's lightning fast,I've even got into big runners BEFORE their intraday news hits the newswire.

I trade with IB,commish is very low plus they have a huge inventory of shorts available,even down to sub pennies.
Good luck with TOS, I've heard very good things about them.

First of all I don't know which time frame RSI you are using but for daytrading/short swings it really has to be RSI(2)imo.
Having said that if you are using RSI(2)be very very careful any stock that is RSI(2)ABOVE 90( especially if the candle is being PIERCED by the UBB.
Sounds strange but it's true, contrary to what many say, RSI(2)above 90 at the UBB is a SIGN OF STRENGTH.

Examples are many but look at PDO on 4/18 at 4.75.
That's the day it hit the RSI(2)scanner at a whopping 98.48

I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you said is that the formula for going long.

It's only 8.95 a month, the best bargain out there imo. You can run any scan of TA you can think of.

No Tim you are absolutely wrong here.
Scott has the BEST hod list going even if they don't know it and never advertise it.
It is a scrolling hod list that has helped me get gains of over 100% every month for the last 4 months.
Yeah as far as trading it stinks but I just keep the minimum $500 in it just to use that feature.
Use IB or TOS if you are a serious daytrader!

I use Stockfetcher,I know you can get most of this stuff elsewhere,but for 9 bucks a month it's pretty cheap and you can get it all in one package.

SPDE is an awesome example plus I talked about "late hits" on premarket in this thread

SPDE combined best of both worlds.

I posted on here and Muddys blog, (in fact there's an "important post " link titled Former Zero Volume Stocks

And I posted about how I love the very late hits on the premarket board:

4. I really watch the "late hits" that appear on the pre-market leaders board, the ones in the 20 minutes before the opening bell. Many of these run longer than the ones that had been on it since 8 am EST as West coasters tend to wake up late:).

Well today SPDE was one of them, all 4 conditions met,here's what I posted 5 minutes BEFORE open:

13th_FLOOR: (Jun 03-09:31) 13th_FLOOR: SPDE 1.75

I posted I bought at 2.10, a cross of an even dollar mark,it ran to 3.25 and me taking profits as it fell below another EVEN mark of $3 for a 38% profit.
Not bragging at all just the facts all conditions pointed to a great risk/reward trade.

Also look at what I posted Saturday about ROYL in that post:

16. Also daily chartwise I like to use RSI(2) as an indicator of STRENGTH when the white candle is being pierced by the UBB. I like to see 90+ RSI2 in this situation,the nearer to 100 the better.
Most look to short these kind and I say they are dead wrong; this is an indicator of a strong stock not a sign of weakness.

Using ROYL again as an example look at RSI2 on its price/vol breakout day 5/2
Its RSI2 that day was 99.62 about as high as it can get!

On 5/2 the price was 3.33 now it sits at 11.09.
I haven't been it the whole way but been trading it's butt off at least 10 times during the run.
And have made huge gains from it just in the last 2 days alone.

Folks I'm not into indicators hardly at all but one thing I know is true, RSI(2)at the top of the UBB's is STRENGTH not weakness.
Again yesterday the candle pierced by the UBB was 97.75!
GRO was 98.57!

You really gotta be careful shorting these,and I'm not talking about the shatbag companies that are being pumped/promoted/fluffy news ones,they are a different world!
I'm talking about real companys,especially it's kinda way risky shorting into new 52 week highs that are doing this.
There's a ton of other better risk/rewards out there.

Tim SOLI was a pump,I know that it was and tried shorting it all day but couldn't get shares,it fell nasty around 3 p.m
Jason Fuller pump PTPE I shorted at .70 yesterday,it didn't even take 1 day to die!

Looks like a repump on bio ( you'll get the) shaft BSHF and the ever famous My Vintage (Baby you'll get destroyed ) MVBY.
I know MVBY too low for you but traded tight spread today and IB has shorts available calling to me.

I know SOIS is oil/gas play but from .78 to 1.24 in 3 days looks tempting on sign of red

Shorted more UNCL NNVC and SWTX today.
Tried HYHY near close short,couldnt get shares,maybe tomorrow

Looking at PTEK BIOF ( heard it was a pump,not sure )tomorrow for red also to short/green go long

Getshorty,

I get a bunch through the mail,honestly I don't know why except I subscribed to Jason Fuller awhile back,cause his ones really tank,and I must have got on others mailing lists because that's when they really started coming in to me.
Plus the blog I post on ,Muddy's,he has been around like 40 yrs trading and he can find anything,we are good friends and he sends me pumps he knows about.
Plus i scan for 0 volume stocks (or ones that traded less than 1,000 shares just a few days ago )that have huge vol increases,then research those,you see those you almost have to know they are pumps.
Like look at BSHF on 4/2 and 4/3,then on 4/15 it trades 800,000 then what happens,it trades off from 2.10 to 1.75,i know that was a pump cause i got an pump mailer on it before it tanked.
SPDE same situation along with bunch of others over the last month.

honestly don't know about PCYC but i held over.
it's its first day breakout plus the volume was insane over its average

I use Stockfether to scan and they have almost all pinks plus my brokers it was active on Scott and IB.

I know Tim don't like under a buck but they give the same % when the die a larger ones.

I put this one up yesterday,and yeah I know it's not a short or really fits Tim's style but I see so many folks putting up stocks that really have no odds of moving potential, I'm trying to bring to this site stocks that do.
A big gain is a big gain no matter, if you have the odds on your side.
And this one had it today.
Yeah I know it's got chapter 11 news ,that's why it's a DAYTRADE only!

You can correct me if I'm wrong but from the comments I was first to bring SPDE TRX SOIS SOLI and PTEK here just this week.
I only mention this cause there are more $$$$$$ making stocks out there than ROYL MXC FPP GRO NTI etc.
And the cool thing is they are not that hard to find if one wants to put a little time and effort into this.

Just watch for red on PARD SLAT HDLM END CHP INO MYSL HYHY PRC CYPW ( someone brought this to the site the other day ,credit to them,this is gonna be nice on red )PGOG ( agian credit someone else ).

These are exactly the kind not followed by the "big boys".

I was long it with 1/2 position at 23.20,thinking to add more if it hit its 52's at 23.71.
Never happened and I'm still holding but will sell at open if it goes red at any point.

Did catch a couple good shorts in ISPH NYNY QTWW.
Shorted OMNI at 6.60 and am still holding.
Same with END at 2.37
Held VNBC long from 5 overnight.
Bot REXX yesterday at 27.10,holding as it's hitting new 52's

Interesting to see if both LGDI and NYMX can break $4 today.
Also top of watches short for me are HYHY CPRK GBRC MYEC EFJI ZVUE OEDV INO SLAT CBAK CYPW HEPH CPWM and LAUD,very interesting chart on this one.

IMO, IB is the best for shorting,has tons of weird ones to short.
Scottrade is the best HOD list ever.
I probably make close to 80% a month just off it alone.
I keep the minimum $500 in it to keep it active and I trade off IB.
Best of both worlds for me!

I know alot of peeps don't like shorting under a buck,but 50% is 50% no matter how you look at it imo.

yes I come upon the manipulated ones because I run a scan "gained 8% in last 1 day" and "gained 15% in last 2 days" every night and if i see a symbol i don't recognize i'll go look at its chart.
That's how i stumbled across LAUD.

If you've never seen these 2 charts just for fun you got to see them.
They are nuts.
MNCS beginning in 11/04 to 10/9/06 then the drop.
LBAS 10/07 to 11/29/07.
Talk about a death drop.
LBAS went from 5 that day to 2.60!
If i remember correctly that drop took about 10-15 mins!
And the next day it closed at 2.20 after hitting a lod of 1.30 and trading over a million shrs that day.
Now those 2 charts ARE bigtime manipulation.

thanks,yeah the late pre hits have been amazing me too,ever since I've been using the IB pre to scan.
It's so easy to rank by latest hits with vol increasing.
My theory is West coasters have got to get up so early to scan pre that they miss the later hits until later after the open plus i think alot of folks get their pre data and then forget about the last 5-15 mins as they already have their lists on watch and figure nothing really happens the last few mins before open.
Then they see the runners for the day a little later and jump in ones we've already seen and been in right near the open from the late pre.

When i do find the LAUD type I really don't care where i enter cause they always close at hod anyway.
But you gotta always have them on watch cause like MNCS LBAS and dozens of others,the death drop comes out of the blue.
Then as fast as you can try to flip to short.
IB and maybe other brokers have a special long/short tab for that kind of situation

I have the scrolling HOD list up on 1 monitor at all times so I don't miss these kinds very often.

When I see a stock like GST start to roll on that list I immediately pull up a 1 and 5 minute chart on one of my other monitors to look for volume spikes.

If you look at a 5 minute chart on GST yesterday you'll see 2 huge volume spikes that preceded GST big move.

With using this method I feel I have a big edge over alot of other folks in that I can get in way before them and then sell the shares to the late comers after I've gotten a nice profit.

Both involve the scrolling HOD list!

1. I can not live without the scrolling Scott hod lists.
Muddy showed me how it was possible to get 20,30,40,even over 50% profits in minutes to a few hours using this. Last week I caught MESA and LGND almost at the start of their runs.
Never had them on any lists,only saw them on the hod list,which brings me to this.......

2. KNOWING former runners and stocks that have hit these scans I run more than normal stocks do. Both MESA and LGND I knew from that way.The only way to get them in your head is to study each nights scans and either write down multiple repeaters or try to remember them.
Watching hours of scrolling hod list helps a bunch too

yes it's under market movers and until you train your eyes to follow it,you can freeze and refreeze it by holding down the maximize tab at the top of the screen,release it and it will start again.

Also if you didn't know ones on that list highlighted in green are stocks hitting new 52 week highs at the moment and ones highlighted in blue will be the ones on whatever watchlist you have up behind that hod list.

Sits at 3.12 at close today.
There was a bunch of cash to made on that one also.

Look at MYSL chart,was a pump few weeks ago and is now getting that "manip" look, the one where the white candle have no top shadows meaning it has closed at hods the last 7 days, just like LAUD did.

A few comments here.
You say GOS a very nice chat but not enough hits,thanks but with 60 folks in it now instead of linking with other chats,we actually are thinking of limiting our chat to 70 folks or fewer now.

I traded a few weeks with Muddy when he was mentoring me.
I could not believe what I was seeing with him and that scolling hod list.
He was catching stocks on their first vol spike breakouts from that list that were running 10-20-50% in less than an hour,sometimes minutes.You say you go check msg boards for alot of your alerts,Tim,when we checked later Muddy was catching many of these even BEFORE the news hit the wires!
When I said to him that was unreal,he just laughed and shrugged and said,"happens almost everyday,no big deal."

The 10/60 works really good with these faster types I believe.

Tim,

It's over $350k from $50k in the last 5 months.

almost $7,000 SSN long
and over $1300 short.
And I don't play that big.

Today ARTE was good for me from 1.95 ( maybe sick of hearing this from me but I LOVE ones around the even marks,hit 1.99 and could not break 2 )to 1.41 eod and i'm holding over.

PGOG I could not get shares short at 2.70.I tried again and again,now sitting at 1.28.
IF I had gotten them I'd have surpassed 200% for the month already.
But tomorrows another day and I got my sniper out for a few good ones already.

I only mention this in the comments here 'cause Tim wants to show this can be done,and I know that you can.

supertrader, thanks, i understand what you say about the base and liquidity issues.

I am trying to beat that by taking my profits that are over my living expenses and putting that whole amount into a mutual fund which I've been in for about 9 years and that has produced very high returns above the norm.

Here's the deal,a bad chart ( like VEXP was )it hit 2.13 today only strangely to have it fall huge down to 1.91 and then to finish in the red.
So it's up in AH on decent volume and I see no new news as of yet.Just what was released this morning.
IF it gets late news before the market open tomorrow it could be a nice runner right out of the gate.
That's the way a lot of these "late" pre hits do.
I zero in at 9:15 and I'll be watching EDGR for sure.

I know it's tough to short into a chart like SBKC but that last eod spike just gave me the feeling that the run is close to over.

Looking for HYHY to pull a HYGS (what a short on red today )tomorrow,on red.

You and I both called PLUG as potential longer term short last week.

Myself I just stalk the Scott hod list because after running the same scans,( Not filters mind you,scans,there's a difference )day after day,month after month,I've learned the potential runners that give imo very good risk/reward.

the 2 scans I use and highly recommend for newer users of the hod list are the high ADR stocks and the combo of high ADR stocks with % of times run in the last 100 days between 10-19%.

I find that totally unacceptable in this day and age.
Plus the reps there at my local Scott branch that I visited in person had no clue as to even the name of the hod list( which is MarketMovers )let alone how it even worked,which I also find unacceptable.

Hiya Tony,
First my congrats on your accomplishments,what you have done is just unreal.

I trade out of an about $50k to $60k daytrading account and I usually play what I consider small on 1 position,say between $3k to $5k.
Since I play up to a dozen+ trades a day I can and do try to take small losses on the ones that don't go my way and go for the 10-20%+ 1 day gainers.
Many times I'll stop myself right out of a stock at say 2% loss,then re enter that same stock the very same day if I get another signal on it.
VLNC was exactlly that way Friday and I scored real nice on the 2nd try long on it after losing 2.5% on it the first time.

It was an IPO upping in pre market.
You should know what that means, "JUMP IT!"
You'll say no doubt I got in too early for lack of confirmation but I got in RIGHT on open and NEVER sold near hod's.
In 10.45 out on trailer 12.85,easy bucks.

RDN TGC ROYL ABK FPP ARTE HYHY MMPI NYNY are distant 2nd's.

Played RDN ABK ARTE long today and HYHY short.

Bought NYNY eod on it's spike/reversal right near close,it's gonna gap open right back to middle of it's day range tomorrow if all holds true from the past imo.

Oh no,was not implying you were a hater at all.

The thing is though if you can put a little away in this fund,say the same amount every month it really has been a gold mine over the life of this fund.
In fact just on 6/30/08 this fund hit an alltime high.
That big drop on 12/26 was when they paid out ex-dividends to us shareholders and it was huge.
If you did not know CGMFX is one of few mutual funds that can short stocks also.
Their biggest holding has been on the short side on WM

well,not reco's just watching short biased and yes I look for ones that i know are pumped and/or have runup in last few days to short.

Many I will hop in long then hit the "flip" button on IB and automatically i go short on the same stock when i feel,as i did on STSA today when it couldn't crack 9,the run has ended.

I made 40 trades tues,mostly doing that.
This is an awesome dt market imo,the volatility is wild

Like look at BLUS chart,it's almost doubled in 5 days and its sitting right under even 2,so to me i can go short it fails 2 break and use a tight mental if i'm wrong.

And yes I have reserved borrows many times there.
You can short down to .001 stocks if you wish.
All are fair game there.
Their commish can't be beat plus their Premarket list rocks.

Be warned though you need $10k to open.

Took profits on cover at 1.73 right near eod.
No sweat trade from 2.95 ( when it dropped from over $3 even mark )for 41% profit.

Yaktipper,

I didn't KNOW INSM would drop that far from the flip ( from long to short ) I said at .89
But 10 cent increments are a pretty big deal with these under a bucks and since I was long INSM from .74,had on watch cause of the run it's had and white candle piercing ubb at 98.12,
I felt the risk reward was great to short .89 and turned out I nailed it huge both ways.

$870 long INSM $540 short
$1600 WRSP short
ECPT $1030 on as I said on earlier post a double full position from .93 to .81 close.

Still short INSM EPCT and BLUS which I've posted about here from 1.88 to now 1.54 (double full position )

Yes for only 6 months now fulltime,but I honestly believe with enough hard work and common sense it can be done by anyone with the right concepts of how these mostly smallcaps work.

Yak,
UBB = upper bollinger bands
Bollingerbands and RSI2 are the only indicators I use in scoping out potentials watches for the next day except for of course ,price and volume.

A white candle being pierced by the ubb with rsi2 above 90 is a sign of strength and many will run hard off it.
The neat thing is if they can't hold that strength and fall 4-5%+ off their hods at that point they can make great short watches.
For me this is a win/win situation.

I have a bunch of losing trades BUT I keep a tight stop at 3% AND I OBEY IT.
Doesn't make for real exciting commentary.
Keep your losses small and let(and as I do )let your winners run,and in some cases add more on the way up or down as the case may be.

Yes I'm with IB and they do not have any s/s available as of now but on Wednesday they did and did up until about 11 a.m. today.
That's why I check every few minutes on stocks I'm interested in,they can change fast.

But Will,
I'm as live as it gets on my chat to the second,PLUS chat logs are put up nightly for anyones review and I try to put up my positions as I do them.I'm hoping maybe some can learn as I did.
When I have a losing trade on there there's no faking it,you see it LIVE.
Same goes for the winning trades,they are there.

I do use the color coding of shortable status in TWS.
But I've found it not always accurate at the moment as I saw the code color said borrows of DSL were available but when I tried they were not.

I love the low commish and premarket scan there and availability to short any priced stock many times.
Caught a nice one in RAMR on the late hit today off it.

All these comments and only one on ILE...a drug stock that's up 220% in pre trading on phase 3 news and runs to 440% before "tanking" back down to 210%.
Did you think it was gonna hold 440%?

I trade with IB,they don't like the idea of putting ones port out open to the public,they don't allow it.
In fact they have beefed up their security with SCUR,IB sends you a security device from SCUR that you need to log onto every trading session and I love it.
I trust no one near my account,and neither does IB

No not short going into today TRX....posted this over weekend...

7 days in a row now this has opened higher than previous close and has fallen,often BIG!
Today it opened at .50 from yesterdays close of .45 and immediatly fell to lod .30
Covered my short at .32 for 33% no sweat profit.

Covered at .32...i'd never hold that either way overnight.
