in The Night Baster on Truck Bearing Kibble
I love, love, LOVE panel two. A turkey detective smoking a cigarette, with a cup of coffee.
Damn it's brilliant!

in Walt Mossberg Calls Firefox 3 the Browser Champ on John's Blog
Walt Mossberg compared latest version of Firefox 3 with Safari 3.0 not ever the latest stable Safari 3.1(at least that is what he said in his blog ). FF3 is not king of the hill in performance. If he tried the latest beta of Firefox i just wonder why didn't he tried Safari with the latest version of WebKit (with SquirrelFish- speed improved with 1.6x of previous version). nice try to fool the people that don't know what really is happening. maybe firefox should switch to webkit to brag with top dog speed in the web browser category.

in 1and1 Sucks: 1&1 Will Rip You Off — Elliott C. Back on Elliott Back's Blog
I never had a problem with 1&1, but my sites are at worst a couple hundred megs apiece of static HTML. It seems that the general advice here is true: don't buy a lame shared server package and expect that you can host your big fat memory-leaking PHP scripts right on top of it. If I ever need a dedicated server, I'll just get a T1 and roll my own.

in To the People Who Think Israel is the Problem on firsttube.com
2. Arab refugees from Israel began calling themselves "Palestinians" in 1967, two decades after (modern) Israeli statehood;
But the area has been known as Palestine for a long time, so that's a natural choice for the refugees.
8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem; Muslims face mecca. if they are between the two cities, Muslims pray facing mecca, with their backs to Jerusalem
Since the earth is round you can say that about any two points, you just have to position yourself there. And just because Mecca is more holy to them than Jerusalem, doesn't mean that they don't see Jerusalem as a holy city.
16. Out of 175 united nations security council resolutions up to 1990, 97 were against Israel; Out of 690 general assembly resolutions, 429 were against Israel;
Looks like they are a problem to me? Or do you think the world (UN) is wrong?
17. The UN was silent when the Jordanians destroyed 58 synagogues
The UN had just been created, so they were probably too busy planning the new state of Isreal and other things.
The rest of the arguments are based on religion. I don't like mixing religion with politics. "Because it's in the bible" or "They are of a different religion, so we are right" are very dangerous ideas.
Don't get me wrong. I agree that Isreal has a right to defend itself, also against Hezbollah. But the latest war was just overkill (no pun intended). They bombed all over the place, not just where the enemy was. Not all of Lebanon agreed with Hezbollah, allthough the latest actions may have caused a few "converts"
