Thanks, Bud. I don't know that I'm totally opposed to some sort of big pickup like Sabbathia and with the money we'll have to spend it may not be a bad idea. I just think the Braves should take a similar approach that have made teams like the Rays, Marlins, A's and '91 Braves successful. Putting together the right pieces at the right time. Danny, I'd love to see Holliday in a Braves uniform. A lot of talk has gone around about Dunn and while he's a good power hitter, Holliday may be a more well rounded outfielder. Well, Hampton and Glavine are both without contract after this season and neither one will be returning. I'd trade James but I really don't know who would take him. Smoltz may or may not pitch in '09 and Huddy is out for a good part of next year too. So yes, there is much work to do in the starting five. Kotsay will also be gone so Blanco/Anderson or (who knows) Schaeffer? are all good possible fill-in's. Adam Dunn is really not a bad idea and would be a great addition in LF with those 40 HR's each year and a pretty hot OPS. Although at $13 mill, he's a pricey add-on still.

I'll say again I'm sad about Tex's departure especially after reading about how he wanted to stay. But I can't see us affording him and allocating more talent around the field. The mini skinny on CK... This would be his second full year. Not a huge power hitter, hitting a moderate 15 or so hrs. But keeps his avg. close to .300. We'll miss Tex's power and glove but maybe not the slow first halves.
