Gabe, I still believe TechMeme is "THE" source of news from influencers. FriendFeed is too noisy for me, and although I use it regularly, it's far from being a source of great news.

Smugmug! Definitely the best choice among the alternatives above. It is worth every cent you pay.

in Seesmic and Twhirl: Why all the fuss? on Mathew's comments
The point is another one. It's pretty common that a news hits the top of Techmeme NOT because the news itself, but because there is a "popular" person that does something, even if this "something" is nothing special. Instead of paying a developer to do that, he hires who already did it. Nothing special actually, but I learnt that news are driven by people and a often a news IS important if people make it important (bloggers, journalists etc.). You are a journalist, I think I'm not telling you anything new.

in Seesmic: Still don’t really get it on Mathew's comments
While I'm for video services as a new way to broadcast yourself and tell the world what you want to, at the same time I agree that video is not for everyone. My only concern is about the amount of money. I shared my thoughts here http://www.lucafiligheddu.com/2008/02/are-web-2...,
I only think that you can do much more with much less.

in Facebook appears to be down on Mathew's comments
Matthew, I'd really appreciate if you try Hictu! out. It's a micro-videoblogging platform, where, unlike Twitter or Jaiku, you can post audio and video messages. Take a look and share your comments: www.hictu.com
thanks

in Seven ways to help Digg get better on Mathew's comments
Mathew,
the only big, big, big, problem with digg is its useless banning engine.
I hope they'll solve this problem soon. It seems that sending emails to them is completely useless. Here's my last post on this:

in Paul Graham on the Web 2.0 bubble on Mathew's comments
I agree with Paul. It's a matter of amount of investments There are a lot of VC investing money, but all of them are investing in something you can "touch with your hands" and most of them in services/applications which people are using. The problem, to me, is that not always you can find a business model which works. So, maybe you can find someone who is willing to pay (a big company ?) so you can sell to that company, but not always you find people who are willing to pay for the service you are offering.
