in Japanese man wants to marry Anime character on The Inquisitr
Hmm, very Gibson-esque. A lead character wanting to marry an avatar is a large part of the Bridge Trilogy and the final book All Tomorrow's Parties.

DAMMIT!
That's what I was going to say.
Now if only I hadn't had class earlier, I could have beaten you to it...
Good show though, mate.

Yeah some of the Air Canada flights even have power outlets for laptops. There is a USB port on the media centre, always wanted to know what it did.

An interesting bit of trivia about Van Gough and his works. Turns out that his mental illness truly coloured his world. He perceived blues and yellows more intensely than "normal". So the line between genius and insanity...maybe there is no line!
Connie you're bang on, you have to embrace it to help. I have (more than) a touch of ADD so ... yeah I can be quite focused.
It is the feeling that you are alone is the worst. It's want makes the "bad thoughts" become darker. Having friend who keep tabs is so vital.

Along those lines a person with bipolar will hear, smell and see
things that are not there. Certain colors are more vibrant or deeper.
There is a reason most of the art and tattoos I have include blue,
yellow and green.
It's in part because the extra and incorrect chemical reactions going
on in my head.

Micah, Thank you for writing this. As one who suffers from moderate depression I get your depressive times. I don't get the manic times, I just come out of it. Yeah, sleep is good. Okay chocolate is better.
I think the more openly we talk about mental illness the better we'll all be able to cope and understand.

There are so many people that suffer from various mental disabilities,
but think they are alone. I know people that are in complete disbelief
that I suffer from anything (other than a serious case of constant
babble).
I dont want anyone to feel like they are dealing with this alone. Its
just too fucking hard.

in Pencils: The New Trendy Scribe Tool on Newest Industry
I love pencils as well. Being a fountain pen nut I'm a little out there on the whole writing instrument thing. But the problem that I have with most pencils nowadays is that they are cheap. It is really, really hard to find good pencils. I tend to stick to mechanical pencils for that reason. The leads tend to be better quality. In fact my preferred instrument for editing papers is a pencil. My grad school advisor did that ... much kinder than red pen!

in Why CEOs should blog on Mathew's comments
I'm with Mathew on this one. Even a once a week update on a CEO blog is fine. It isn't about becoming an uber-blogger it's about engaging in conversation. I know that Bob Lutz has other people read and reply to comments (I also know he leaves comments sometimes as well).
For a CEO having the ability to just post via e-mail would deal with the time issue. The issue isn't drinking the Kool-Aid, it's seeing the changing face of corporate communications. Sure, it's early days, but CEOs need to get used to having a more public face.
I bet that when today's crop of bloggers become CEOs (we know some will), the CEO blog will just be an accepted part of a company's public persona.

I agree Mathew. I noticed that you, Scoble, and I caught the part about how nasty the blogosphere got during this whole debacle.
I don't think I can comment on the trademark issues ... for conferences ... yes, Web 2.0 is now a meme and they have to live with that. I like the suggestion for creating something like a Creative Commons license for the mark ... again as far a conferences go. For the rest of us it's a concept ... maybe this will force another term or meme to bubble to the surface.

Well, somebody's got to do it Mathew ;). Regardless it was an excellent conference. Very, very well organized.
I think it could be marked as a watershed (for me at least) in Web 2.0 ... I think the tough questions are started not only to be asked, but answered.

in Do blog networks need VC money? on Mathew's comments
Blog networks are pretty capital intensive operations ... the server costs must be immense. I agree, the discussions among the participants is probably going to be the most interesting part of the conference.
