As far as I am concerned engagement rings are important. I know one can argue why does one need to buy you a ring to show they are committed to you.... that’s true, but it is the symbolism behind it that is important. Which takes us to how much it should cost? I defiantly don't think that one should go broke to obtain it, but they should at least show that they have put some thought to it and done their best. If all my man can afford is a cubic zirconium for $40, then I would treasure it as though it was worth a million dollars. But if he was just being cheap, than no thanks, cause I believe deep down that really shows you how much they value you (Warning girls, this only applies to cultures that practice the giving of engagement rings, if it is not in your mans culture, do not expect them to understand the significance behind it, so don’t go breaking up with him). I am a strong believer that if a man really loves you as much as he says he does he will do anything within his reach to show you he does.

To answer your questions:
1. Engagement ring for $1000, and the rest towards the house (hey I am Chagga (African), its the house that matters most :-) )
2. Both my dear dowry is for the parents, engagement rings are a symbol of your commitment to each other. Hey gotta have some romance.
3. Same as before split the money between the two.
4. It’s obvious they have to make enough money to afford both, if not and he does spend the money... run girls, run.... or you will end up in Oprah crying about how broke you are and are desperate to come up with a survival plan!!! Remember once your married it BOTH your debt!!!!

5. Probably not, but I would, refer back to the looong comment!!!

They make you feel sexy when you wear them. But I don't wear them because I like my feet (uncrushed). The one and only time I wore heels to a nightclub, I got over the sexy feeling very quickly, by the end of the night my feet were so swollen they couldn't fit in the shoes anymore (biggest mistake I guess is to take them off!) so I left them right there on the stairs on my way out and got on the tube barefoot! It felt sooooo much better even though I got funny looks. Hehe:)

I feel like the Dr a lot of the time are wrong. It has to do with the family you are raised in too. It seems the more caring & loving the family the better the child does. It is good to see you all are close and such a wonderful caing family. A lot of people could learn from you all.

Kennecott Sulfide Mine I am disappointed that the UP Legislators took even a glass of water from this mining company. While, I realize it is part of the process to attend hearings or presentations from both sides of any issue, this is one where the Legislators staff need to have been particularly diligent in vetting. I respectfully request that the Legislators involved reexamine this issue and give a real listen to their constituents.

The Legislators should ask Governor Granholm to become involved in this issue too and to urge the DEQ to not allow this permit to go through.

Voter Participation Great to have non partisan voter drives. Lots of people are suspicious of party drives. The old story of if you register to vote you will get called for jury duty is still going round.

I think a big effort should be made to get women to push their husbands, boyfriends, male coworkers and male relatives to VOTE. I know half a dozen men that do not vote where I work out of 50 men. Two tell me they have never voted and the rest do not bother.

Don't feel regret towards what's happened to the past, just make the best of the present and see what the future brings.

I'm turning 21 this year and finishing uni soon, but I still feel very much like a child. Turning 20 or any other age doesn't mean we become a different person overnight. Be proud of your achievements. Despite being (only) 1 year older than you, I admire your courage, your outspoken manner, your strong principles.

Laney, it is hard, but life is hard and Dan and Tallis do know how to get in touch with you and how to telephone you and how to come by your house. It is okay also for you to pick up the phone and say, I love you very much and I miss you both. But that is all you can do. That's where it begins and ends. You do have to let go now and you can only hold them a little tighter if they come back on their own and then only until they leave a again. Such is life. You must concentrate on your own life now and fulfill that one as much as possible now. That's what Dan and Tallis would want you to do too.

Laney, have you tried hormone replacement therapy? You could ask your doctor about it. I had it for years and have stopped it now and I do not have any signs of menopause, so I think I've got all that behind me now. I certainly saves you a lot of bother and wear and tear. One pill in the morning and that's it, once you are on the proper dose. BR/BR/You described dancing in the rain very well. I smiled as I read it and in my mind watched you run up the stairs in all your naked glory. BR/BR/So, how about you and Rob? He knows you very well, doesn't he? Marriage therapy? Couples counseling? We were once in a restaurant and a cockroach walked across the wall right next to our table. BR/BR/Once, I was in a restaurant and found a large hair in my burger and one wrapped around the opening to the ketchup bottle. I left without paying and never went there again. BR/BR/Once, I bought a bottle of 7-up and there was a piece of a mouse floating in it. BR/BR/I have bitten into a raisin bun and chewed down onto a piece of wire. BR/BR/I think sometimes, at the Chinese, they put pre-masticated meat in their food, so I don't eat there anymore. For all I know, they put the left overs back in the pot.BR/BR/I don't go out for dinner anymore, because of my gastric band, but I wonder if that is such a bad thing.

I have always thought that being a taxi driver is like being a social worker, as you need to deal with all members of the public, the good, the bad and the ugly and I am sure it's not easy and be a good driver at the same time. I think Rob need not worry about people's admiration for taxi drivers. At least not mine.

Yes, we need to remind ourselves often how many areas of our lives we leave out of our prayers. Two points,the one about our married lives and that about distancing ourselves out of guilt are particularly important. We need to remind ourselves of that non-judgemental part of the Father who is willing to accept us if we are honnest in our repetence.
You are so good with metaphors, I am going to share them with my children:"the shadow of His wings" and "Covering our children in prayer".So vivid pictures of God's grace!

i am using autoCAD 2009 and i am trying to use the move function in elevation mode but it only moves horizontally. i want to move up and down. i used to be able to do this with 2005 but now it doesnt seem to work. can anyone help?

Hola família!

Fa segles que tinc pendent escriure al vostre blog, que vosaltres sempre teniu un momentet per al meu i jo mai us escric res. Això sí, per la vostra cuina vermella m'hi passo molt molt sovint!

Tinc un munt de coses acumulades per dir-vos, a veure si les puc resumir una mica :)

1) Em sembla que us heu deixat de posar la quantitat d'ametlles a la recepta de les espirals, veritat?

2) Quan vaig anar a Berlin em vaig imprimir la vostra entrada sobre la ciutat. Per cert, quina passada Berlin, eh???? I, com a bona blocaire culinària, anar al Coledampf's i a la secció de delicatessen del KDW estava a la part alta de la meva llista de coses a fer a la cuitat. Al KDW hi vaig anar i em vaig estressar de mala manera, era dissabte de Pàsqua i no us podeu imaginar com estava de ple!!! Al Coledampf's... sóc un desastre i em vaig deixar l'adreça a l'hotel, així que no m'hi vaig poder passar. Snif, snif... Per cert, un dels restaurants de la Sarah Wiener estava just al costadet del nostre hotel, però no me'n vaig adonar fins al dia que ja marxàvem! No sé si hi haguéssim anat de totes maneres, al meu xicot suec encara l'he de moldejar una mica i fer-li veure que de vegades val la pena gastar-se 60 euros en un sopar! Tot arribarà...

3) Un amic meu s'acaba de comprar un pis a Zürich i li dónen llibertat per triar la cuina que vulgui. A que no us imagineu de quin color li dic que la trïi? :)

I ja per acabar:

4) Teniu un blog fantàstic!!! És una delícia passar-se per aquí sovint, les vostres receptes són totes molt interessants, per no parlar de les reflexions que les acompanyen i les fantàstiques fotos que feu!
