What I found truly laughable about Mr. Charles' letter and what I feel destroyed any claim he might have had to credibility was his use of the phrase "generic buffoon". Given the content of the rest of his letter he obviously meant to say "geriatric buffoon". Anyone with such an imprecise grasp of English vocabulary really can't expect to have his opinion taken seriously.

All things considered, I'd prefer to see these letters not published at all, given the fact that they are, ultimately, expressions of subjective personal opinion regarding a particular candidate.

I'd like to see the limited space available for LTE devoted to readers' viewpoints and information sharing which discuss issues of general interest concerning state, regional, and local matters.

I had no problem with the headline since I believe it to be the literal as well as the metaphorical truth. George W. Bush has to be one of the most unintelligent, uninformed, unreflective individuals ever to occupy the Oval Office. As far as I am concerned, the man (or woman) and the office are inextricable. One can respect both or none, depending upon the office's occupant. Sad to say, I have had no respect for either since January of 2001.
