in Old School Friday: Let’s Dance! on Conversations With Marva
This is a good choice. People would jump up and Vogue fiercely at a club. I never caught the fever but still, you couldn't get some people to stop once it was over.

This is definitely one that will be in my head for the day. I'll Take You There is a classic and I've always liked the beat on this song.

Girl this story is just sad. Kids these days are getting into situations they have no idea what the consequences really mean. Not that no other generation hasn't, but this is the age of diseases that have mutated into things penicillin can't cure. Masturbating each other during a film!? Wow. What type of teach is that who isn't paying attention to their classroom? When I was in school the teacher would walk around to make sure we weren't asleep. She would have bust gasket to find kids performing sex acts in her classroom.

She knows she sang the heck out of that song too. :) Happy OSF!

Gladys rocked that performance. Man, this week's theme has me wishing we could get back to the days where soul music had real SOUL and was prominent on the radio. OK I feel old just saying that. LOL

Aaaaaaah Troop! LOL I think I played their music until my whole neighborhood got tired of me. I used to be in the record store 24/7 when I was younger. I made friends with the guy at Nubian Notions (Boston stand up!) and one day he told me to stay in the store because Troop was coming. I stayed for two hours and watch the line start to form around the building while I stood inside. They showed up and I took photos of the group. He told them I had been there for hours and they gave me tickets to the show that night. Y'all couldn't have told me nothing that day LOL. Sorry for the blog post in your comments, but this brought me way back. :D

in Marvalus Ramblings on Conversations With Marva
I think their intentions are bogus. They should be honored that a person of his command has chosen their location to speak to the world. These are times where we need to come together and stop the divide. Perhaps they should hold a peace protest asking God to make sure that their intentions are noble. But I guess that wouldn't be newsworthy.

They got us good with this song. It was an easy way to get a party full of females on the floor showing off our assets. ;)

Now you know you have no business playing that video and getting people all excited. If you were a boy looking like that you'd be in trouble. LOL

One of the reasons why I loved Pac as an artist. For every 'gangsta' track there was one with a message and one that was pure entertainment. He is sorely missed...

Stephanie Mills is at the top of my favorite female singers list. Her voice is awesome. I also thought of Tevin & thought... to easy. LOL

Toni knows she was singing her heart out on this song lol. This theme had too many choices. It would have been a good theme for Valentines Day. :)

This was the joint. I tried to fin a video a few years back and couldn't find one. I had to settle for the mp3. Thank God for YouTube.

Hey Marv,
Nice pick with Etta James, but I'm going to need her to stop acting like she has turrets syndrome and quit trying to beat people down for singing her songs. LOL
Happy OSF!

in Old School Friday: Original vs. Remake on Conversations With Marva
I'm not much of a Luther fan, but this is the only song of his that I truly like. I was actually listening to this earlier this week. I love Karen Carpenter's voice and wish she would have lived longer so we could see where her career would have gone.

in Old School Friday: Too Hot! on Conversations With Marva
Marvalus, Come Inside was my all time favorite song by Intro. It was this song and their remake of Ribbon In The Sky that kept their CD on rotation. I actually like the whole CD but those two songs put me in a trance. :)

OK I'm bowing down to the teenage girl anthem. Talk about getting off to a good start, look at you! :)

I have a whole 'nother post on what teachers stand for these days coming...
