in Tiger Woods does NOT work on his Weaknesses on The Marketing Technology Blog
Great Post Doug, I agree that we must develope our strenghts, the problem is when working for others they often does always focus on that with you and often try to get your weakness to the front and try to dig in to get those to be equal to your strengths.

I agree that great leaders focus and foster the development of your strengths, when I have had managers with that ideaology I have thrived and when I had managers that focused on weakness I have not been happy.

Thats a blogger for you Doug, starting and putting out fires! :)

Douglas Karr I'm not usually very controversial, Latimer - but looks like it's my week! This particular situation with Imus really gets to me, though. I can't believe a) people are supporting him and b) that they are justifying the behavior based on rap music or other racial remarks made by minorities.

People need to face up to the fact that we are different, that there are advantages provided from one's race, and that some behaviors should be tolerated and accepted in some cases and not others. Double standard? Of course there is! And there should be.

People need to be held accountable personally for their actions. Imus is a mean ol' jerk that has insulted many races and religions. It's not a tough job.. he talks on the radio and is paid millions. He deserves to retire and never be heard from again.

If the media and society would quit trying to make race invisible and, instead, celebrate the incredible diversity of this country and the differences between us, I think we would be so much better off.

in Banking While Black on YBPGuide
Great job by Robert Johnson on creating a new avenue for African-Americans to build wealth and bank with their own. Mr. Johnson is the consumate businessman and is always looking for avenues to uplift his people as well as create a profitable business.

in obama: “you don’t run for second” on YBPGuide
Great Post! I think Obama has them running scared in Washington, D.C. they did not expect him to get that type of support. It goes to show that ALL people are ready for a change. Even if you take the war out of the equation there are alot of issues that needs to be address. I can't wait until this election gets going and we see Obama out there gaining support

in so…apparently everyone has lost their mind on YBPGuide
I have contacted them all and the CBC should be ashamed of themselves for agreeing to go on that Republican channel. The right wingers at fox are best to be ignored and nothing more, and as far as Imus it is no suprise to me, he is always going saying something stupid that he has to apologize for a year.

From my experience the best way to deal with radio stations is to also send letters to companies that advertise on their stations, you start threating their revenue and then they make changes.

in Consultants, Contractors and Employees: Where are we heading? on The Marketing Technology Blog
Unfortunately Doug, there are not too many companies that exist that like, at least I don't know of them. I think sometimes a company needs to mix things up a bit and get external help, employees can sometimes let a lot of other issues get in the way of their performance like pay, career development, and Health care to name a few. Like you said sometimes the long term investment doesn't pay of.

Wow, Sounds like the company I work for at the moment. It seems as a company starts to grown from a innovative small to mid-sized company to more of a Corporate environment, Those 5 habits become all to common.

in growing up technologically inclined on YBPGuide
I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to learn technology early on. They saw the change coming and wanted me to be a part of it and thats when they bought me my first computer at 11, a commodore 64 . I was hooked at that point learning basic all the way up to COBOL. I recently started teaching myself different web languages like PHP,Coldfusion, and ASP.

If we dont encourage our kids to get on the wave , it will be the equal to being iliteral

I think Google page rank has long since lost its luster, it has some amount of credibilty to still, but certainly not what it use to be early on.

Once I build up traffic I will try to incorporate guest bloggers. It seems as if it would be more work but both bloggers would benefit from the partnership. It is something I think more bloggers should do

It's amazing how far photobucket has become. I remember when it started was a great service then and it is a great service now. I think its a business model that should be an option to piggy back off of something already established and bring a value-added service to the mix to enhance the product.

in Stop Writing for Search Engines on The Marketing Technology Blog
I started a blog and thought I was going to do that very thing, write to get page ranks and such, then when I started writing, it felt like it wasn't me...Because it wasn't! I then said if I was gonna do it it was gonna be on my terms and no others. I have only been blogging for a month and I like the fact that I am building relationships and not links!

Douglas Karr Thanks, Latimer! I was just over at your blog (I think we have a friend in common - JD from Black In Business. Your blog is written very thoughtfully... you touch on a number of really explosive topics, but you respectfully provide your side of the argument and leave the topic open for discussion.

I read a lot of articles on the blogosphere about what you should be doing... and I frankly think most of it is B.S. It's a lot like telling someone how they should have a conversation with a stranger.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
