10. Do not go to websites like digg.com, boingboing, and other related sites.

You will be in for a mental scramble!

I definitely agree with what others are saying. I loved the book. I don't think I'll do all the things Tim did. I've got a passion thats a little more focused.

You can say though that Tim's job is really a 96 hour work week because being the crazy traveling record holding self is his job!

in Are You Too Busy Working? You Might Suffer From Work Tunnel Vision on LifeDev
I just went through that recently, and I'm only 22 years old. It wasn't like I had a bad job. I had a great job, but it was still a job.

I realized you only live once, and I had something I wanted to try out.

I love the Work Tunnel Vision term. I had the same. I was in business school focusing on getting the post corporate job I could get. I didn't really think of alternative ways of living until I started reading more about other successful people like Tim Ferris (4 hour work week).

Anyway, nice post. Just found your site and I look forward to reading your posts.

Hah, I don't have a lot of experience of RFPs, but I do recall having a micromanaging boss that made me send out a million of them with the most ridiculous questions to try to get a copy machine.

I felt sorry for the other businesses. They eventually never returned our phone calls.

Anyway, nice post. I agree with the "hey were invented by process-loving bureaucrats, whose sole mission in life is to procrastinate, justify their jobs and cover their asses." :)

I've only started to learn about this no follow deal.

I've heard about text links ads getting in trouble before. Now Twitter. Interesting to see how this turns out.

Thanks for the post!

it's a good thing wikipedia is not a private organization. just think of what goes on behind popular media companies.

in You Don’t Have To Be A Genius To Make Money on LifeDev
Good news! People are way too obsessed with academic evaluations.

I like this post because falls directly in line with my own personal experience and beliefs.

I know someone who is simply extraordinary in terms of solving complex math problems, but he is an emotional mess. He waste money like no other and can't keep anything going.

On the other hand, I can see how being too smart can hurt you. People who are smart think too much and they end up thinking themselves out of opportunity. Dumber people grab opportunities when they come because they couldn't think of all the possibilities of how it could go wrong.

The biggest problem is that academia falls into this IQ trap. Many "dumb" people can't make it through school. However, dropping out of school may be the best thing that ever happened.

in Networking Tips from the White House on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Wow! I love this post!!!

I know networking is extremely important and I've definitely butchered it in the past.

My question is that some people are just needy for some companionship, but you really don't have that much in common or they might even annoy you. Should you keep spending your time talking to them? I guess you have to unfortunately drop some people out of the network for your own sake.

Anyway, we all can learn a lot from Bill Clinton. I wonder of the scandal made him more likable because he seems more human due to making that mistake.
