a color shaper. Well its used for paint to add nice effects by spreading the paint around. But its a great tool for pencil because it blends it beautifully on paper. There are different tip shapes which is useful for different techniques. I use it to blend around tight corners and is great when drawing hair. On the left side under "Essential Tools" you can find a link to see what it looks like.

Thank You Arnold, Well for these tutorials i use canson bristol vellum, which has a slight tooth, its great for adding a bit of texture to your drawings. If you want something smooth, i would recommend Bristol smooth paper. This one is much smoother which is great for skin and other smooth textures. Its also great for adding fine detail which mechanical pencil.

Well the paper depends on what you want to draw. For drawing animals i prefer to use canson bristol vellum. It has a slight tooth which gives the drawing a bit of texture. For faces and really detailed drawings i go for Canson bristol smooth. Both are great for drawing with pencil. Some people complain about the slight texture that vellum has, but i like it. I compose the image that i want to draw from different photos and using photoshop i put the images together. The grid is a method that i use to get the image on the paper correctly. Its a great tool and it helps with understanding proportions.

yes i do. A grid is a great way to correctly fit what you want to draw. It doesn't help with adding detail but its a great tool.

Thanks RO, well i use 6b progresso pencil. These are great for getting nice dark areas,but youd have to layer it to get it nice and dark. Well just contact me if you have any questions.

thank you so much. Asha thats exactly what i mean when i say that studying improves your detail. Those subtle details will make your drawings much more realistic. The more you study what you are drawing the more you will be able to add to the drawing.

Sid, i just took one of those cheap mechanical pencils and i inserted a needle on the tip. A 0.7 mechanical pencil would be best because it would be much easier to put in the needle. Once the needle is in, you can tape around it. Make sure to file down the tip a bit so that it doesn't shred through the paper. If you have any other questions just contact me.
