in Oh Technorati, how we want to Like you on Shooting at Bubbles
Thanks for the post. We continue to work on our crawler, search, and web site while also building out our ad serving platform and Technorati Media network. It's a lot for a small company to tackle, but we feel we have the right building blocks in place to deliver value to bloggers and people who read blogs while also pursuing a sound business model.

I think you may have missed the gist of Louis Gray's post in that he was indicating Technorati has a better blog search index, particularly for trackbacks, than Google Blog Search.

"And as I'm fighting off false positives with Google, Technorati is quietly finding me mentions that I can't get using Google, which relies on keywords instead of links. Not even the advanced blog search page on Google lets me find links to a site the way most bloggers want to find."

I know there are lots of areas for improvement, but I'm always happy to read that people find good in what we do and appreciate that you will give us a chance. Thanks for cheering for the little guy.

StevenHodson Thanks for dropping by Dorion - it always refreshing when people involved with the companies that I write about take the time to do so. I have in the past been a big fan of Technorati and would like to be one again so I do hope you have some interesting things up your collective sleeves. It would be interesting to know what is planned but I guess I'll just have to wait ......

in Technorati, Feedburner Suffer Technical Difficulties on The Inquisitr
Duncan, thank you for blogging about this. We are working on the issue. I have posted to the Technorati Weblog.

"Technorati is experiencing a problem with our search result updating infrastructure. We continue to crawl and save data, however, post search results are stale and temporarily stuck at about 3pm Pacific Fri. Aug 15. Link results (reactions) are stuck at Thu. Aug 14.

We have identified the root cause and are actively working on the issue. We expect to have the system caught up during the evening hours.

No data is being lost, but the most recent posts and reactions are not reflected in results at the moment."

in Guy Kawasaki Takes Over TechCrunch… on Zoli's Blog
Zoli, thank you for the QA. You found an obscure bug in the Technorati Favorites displayed on a signed in member's home page. This was an edge case, but inappropriate none the less. If the first item listed in your favorites was claimed by a Technorati member, the rest of the items displayed on the page used the same member name.

No blogs were actually changed or transferred as this was a display glitch.

I have just patched our servers, so Guy will have to relinquish his claim to TechCrunch.

Thanks again, Dorion

in Technorati Topics Announced & Bugs on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Andy, thanks for the feedback on Topics and for pointing out some of the issues with Popular. I'll be looking into it today. We are working hard to get updates working 100% of the time but problems do arise. Thanks for pointing them out. Ben, I'll see what I can do for your blog.

BTW, I've been with Technorati for 3 of its 4 years. Dorion

Andy Beard Hi Dorion

First let me apologise, I was skim reading David Sifry's post and read as far as "This moment also affords me the opportunity to extend a welcome - to our friend and colleague Dorion Carroll, who will take on the role of Vice President of Engineering, reporting to me."

I didn't read any more of the paragraph...

Glad to see things being implemented and fixed. I really like the OPML features though editing 900 favorites to remove a few broken ones was hard before the interface disappeared. There was talk of a more ajaxified editing interface with less page loads.

in Interesting: Technorati’s WTF on Webomatica
Thank you for your kind words. You have very nicely summarized so many aspects of what we were thinking as we put WTF together. The best part about this experiment is not knowing where it will lead.

Thanks again for your thoughtful analysis and hope you like it enough to submit more blurbs.

Let's just say it was people, talking to people, and a little bit of email (automated through blog comments).

Does that count? dc

Vince, sorry you had to reach us via Doug's blog, but I found the problem with your blog's configuration in our system, fixed it, generated a new ping, and I now see your recent posts in our index.

Again, sorry about that. Dorion
