I honestly believe Powell is supporting him because he is black, traditionally Powell is very conservative, and he is a proud Bush supporter... So if he doesn't agree with the issuses, he must agree with his color.

Shripriya I think Powell articulated why he's endorsing Obama very well. As an another commenter earlier pointed out, often an vote "for" someone is really just a vote "against" the opponent. Maybe McCain's choice of Palin, his abandoning all his principles, and his ugly campaign were factors in making Powell choose Obama...

I'd like to give him the benefit of doubt that it is more than just race...

Many kids especially in my generation don't really understand the importance of manners. Everyone deserves to be treated with a neutral amount of respect, even if you don't like them.
