I would just presume that Facebook is too complicated to use (what is a poke, app anyway?) for older users. Orkut has a low bandwidth version that is without fringes. Maybe FB could also do a similar low-fringes version for the not so techie older users..

Being a Firefox fan myself, I am glad FF is increasing its share.

But Mashable, have you noticed this yourself - I believe Google is trying some sort of a dirty trick here. I see that Firefox is soo slow in loading Google.com,adwords.com, or even any site I click from Google search pages. The other sites are quick to load on FF; while Chrome is quick to load all these sites..

I only hope Google is not deliberately trying to show Firefox in bad light by slowing things down for anything that comes from their browser so as to shove in the usage of their own browser.

I believe the ad is for the complete layman user who does not even know that there are alternatives to Internet explorer. So, he should feel intrigued to search for google chrome after seeing this ad, educate himself that there is an alternative to IE and that one and only thing is Chrome and go ahead and try..

but yes, too difficult for Google to measure the effectiveness and too much tech-savvy-ness expected from the layman..

"Are Twitter users with more followers, tweets, replies or retweets more relevant in the context of real time one-to-many conversations?"

Similar questions can be posed to Google as well - Are webpages with more inbound links more valuable than those with lesser links. And Google has answered it as well with constant tweakings; keeping an eye on the rate of inbound links growth,etc.

I guess Tweefind will also tweak results in a similar manner. Who knows if Twitter does indeed become truly revolutionary (God forbid), then we might be talking of Twitter Search Optimization in the same vein as SEO, though it is a bit far fetched..

Anyway, I think yes, Slideshare has indeed scored a strategic goal - so many people talking about them..amazing PR..negative publicity too, but not bad..

I empathize with those who had to look like fools in front of their networks, but that's fine..this is still way better than talking about twitter on twitter all the time, right?
