in If you believed you were enough, what would you do differently? on Carrie and Danielle
Have you heard of Dining for Women? They're changing the world one dinner at a time. It's such a cool idea.

in If you believed you were enough, what would you do differently? on Carrie and Danielle
I hear ya! We're all so busy. If I truly believed that I was enough, I would spend a day doing absolutely nothing -- or rather doing absolutely nothing for anybody other than myself. I'd do it believing that I deserved it and that it would be nourishing and loving my family, not hurting them.

Asha, you've spoken about what I experienced for much of my adulthood. I only saw myself through the lens of a man; what I thought he wanted. The result was that I never felt loved and now I see that I didn't love myself. The real craziness of it all is that now that I look backwards, I didn't even REALLY like the guys. I just needed them to like me so I could like me.

in What would you like to revolutionize? on Carrie and Danielle
I'd revolutionize the education, healthcare, and housing systems, and poverty in the U.S. My mother taught jr./high school for 32 years in the 'hood in D.C. because the need was there. She, like so many other teachers, was never paid a fraction of what she was worth.
Piggybacking on that would be our obsession with all that entertains us, which certainly includes Hollywood. I'd revolutionize the value of self-worth so that we didn't have to look to movie "stars" to see how we measure up.

in What is your big, audacious dream for yourself? on Carrie and Danielle
I dream of traveling the world, putting together a documentary on culture and craft. It would air on the Discovery Channel and have an accompanying DVD, website, and lecture/show. I dream of learning Portuguese and buying a summer home in Portugal, sitting in a cafe sipping on cafe con leche.
I've just got to say that I'm a huge dreamer. But when I read this question, I thought of Nicole Kidman's character in "The Interpreter" when she says "We don't name the dead." Somehow I felt like we don't name out dreams -- not out loud.
So part of the boldness of dreaming for me is allowing myself to say what my dreams are. Thanks for askin.

in Special Friday Edition - What’s your word of the week? on Carrie and Danielle
RESTORE. Actually, it's my word for the year, just applied to different things. This week, I've asked myself how I can restore my skin. So I'm buying some natural skin care products.

in Special Friday Edition: What’s the desire beneath your envy? on Carrie and Danielle
I envy those who have the money to travel frequently. I used to travel quite a bit and miss it terribly. I often tell my children about the lessons you can learn immersed in a culture.
My deep desire beneath this envy is that I crave movement, yet I feel stuck -- stuck in a lack mentality. I do plan little trips I'm determined to take. I want my children to see that we can have fun without being wealthy.

in Conducting the conductor… on Carrie and Danielle
This reminds me of www.pandora.com. You create "stations" of music you like and it finds similar music in style and sound. I've discovered many artists I'd never heard of before this way.
