I saw the debate and I really liked the fact that they decided to go the issues route (mostly). But my concern is the spook at the door - Bill Clinton. In the commentary following the debates, quite a few mentioned that it would not have gotten this ugly if it were not for Massa Clinton (a true Southerner - no doubt).

Honestly I was leaning towards Hillary Clinton initially b/c of her connections. But any woman who is willing to let some philandering husband steal her thunder on the world stage at the expense of cordial race relations in the U.S. is not someone I want in the White House.

What is she going to do when she has to meet and greet with those from Africa or the Middle East? Let ol' Massa talk for her? They don't like dealing with women anyway (reference Madeline Albright).

We need someone who can lift this country up - not take us back to 1955.

Not sure how many of you watch Hannity & Colmes but rest assured Black people are being used.

Once Obama is completely raked through the coals (which is the plan) by either McCain and/or Clinton, the nomination will go to Clinton.

Obviously MANY people will not be voting for Massa's wife Missus Clinton, so McCain will win.

McCain is ancient quite frankly so obviously he will pick a young/youngish running mate. Would not be surprised if for some reason he doesn't complete his term (bad health, etc). So the Republic VP will be come President and voila the right will have the person they wanted in the first place in office.

So be sure to pay attention to who McCain picks as his running mate....

Gates comments remind me a lot of something that Vernon Jordan said awhile ago. Slavery was horrible but the bottom line is it was about $$. And when enough people weren't earning enough from the system of slavery (coupled with abolitionist's efforts) it had to go.

If the majority of Blacks were more economically viable, then I wonder if the policies against Blacks and the incessant racism would be so virile.

But therein lies the rub. We were denied 40 acres and mule, then upper level service jobs, then upper level white collar jobs, etc for a reason. As long as you do not have the means then you are controllable.

People with means AND an education are less controllable. They have access to similar resources or they find those resources elsewhere. They can move to get what they need.

Since Gates considers himself one of the Talented Tenth, his comments on Smiley's show are not surprising.

Consider the source. He is a descendant of slave owners. For those of you who have lived in the rural South (Charleston, Raleigh, Cary and places like that don't count), these kind of people still reside and are no more happy to have Black people walking around then they were back then.

You know what...he's not the only. If you honestly stop some of our people and ask them about the current Presidential election, you just may get the same response. It's beyond sad; it's scary...

If we cannot be apart of the process, we will find ourselves behind stepped on by the process.

Donna Brazile is truly on point. She had a class on politics at the University of Maryland back in the 90's that was phenomenal.

But in reading this (and other) blogs and seeing Massa and Missus on tv, it just goes to show u where Black people stand in their midst. We are okay when it comes to votes or doing their bidding. But that's about it.

I hope Black people won't fall for the okeydoke if they stupidly give Missus the nomination.

I agree he probably will stay in and prove to be on the sorriest Black mayors that ever was - even more so than Marion Crackberry.

Being from DC, I can attest to how sad and unfortunate DC was when Marion was immersed in that WMD. Rampant unemployment during a time of surplus in the country. Next level drug trade and murder (all quadrants except upper NW). Open air prostitution (14th & O Streets NW).

The B**** didn't set Marion up. He set a lot of Black people up. They were going on his past works and didn't see the full picture. I admit I was blinded for a second since he was able to find some jobs for teens during the early 90's which led to a slight decrease in crime.

But make no mistake, DC was better off when he was no longer mayor. It's too bad that Kwame cannot learn from the past b/c he is already repeating it and in the interim, zipping his pants down and peeing on the heads of Detroit citizens. He has go to go.
