actually, everybody i know who grew up in west LB (let's say west of Atlantic) would refer to chestnut as the Eastside--they divide west LB so that west of the river is westside and east of it/the 710 is the eastside. that's where the group Eastsiders got their name and why snoop is always saying he's from the eastside, when he grew up near poly.
not sure how an LA times writer wrangled that terminology though!

That's a really good point, Mike, and a great history lesson--but I'm sorry, I have to differ. I know people CALL it the eastside, but to me it's neither east nor west.

There's a huge difference between writing an autobiography (and all the time, as men apparently do) and writing a thinly veiled autobiogrphy masquerading as art, Peter. I think the Commie is saying what Chuck Palahniuk would say, which is that art which "stinks of catharsis" is hard to enjoy unless it's a really, really hardcore catharsis.
Also, "no talent," "failed artist"? I don't get why you're so bitter about this article unless you're married to Treem...or are you a failed artist getting back at failed artists getting back at the world?

there's a nice google maps shot at that post link of where the park would be as seen from overhead; good clarification for anyone who's confused about the logistics.

full disclosure: i'm an obama supporter.
still: total crocodile tears. she's so choked up and emotional she can barely choke out, word for word, what her exact platform has been for the last several months, taking barely veiled shots at obama and edwards. i thought this was pretty shameless...she should have at least pretended to cry after a more convincing question.
