Hmm..maybe I am a bit cynical, but I tend to think they are doing it more for the social aspects than the cause itself. I remember joining in such causes back then for the "hanging out" aspects.

Of course perhaps the internet is changing all that- just look at the candidates that are enjoying great support among the younger generation - Obama and Ron Paul - they are both popular on the "internets."

You can avoid ATM fees by never using ATMS to begin with. I make all of my purchases by using rewards credit cards exclusively. Why get nothing for using cash, when you can get 3% or 5% cash/rewards for buying ordinary items.

Hmm...I can think of a few popular finance/money blog sites not on your referral list..I'm surprised..but anyway, this is my first time here! :)

I like your credit card articles...I am studying the positives and negatives of receiving interest from 0% cards...so far I am not entirely convinced. You're right.. you'll get killed if you miss one payment. That happened to me one time but luckily I convinced Citicard that it was an isolated mistake and they reinstated my introductory 0%. Phew!

Google is the 800 pound gorilla and is pretty much going to get what it wants until there are legitimate competitors. Being the biggest and baddest has its advantages and allows Google to set its own parameters. It's protecting its AdWords income stream and that's all that matters. I am waiting for more competition eventually to temper and humble Google....doubt it will happen though..... :(

I think I have more than 100 passwords for every conceivable website imaginable. I store all of them on my separate personal yahoo account using Yahoo email's Notes function. It's invaluable!

Aha..interesting. I just registered for Google Analytics and installed the script on my blog today...let's see what information it'll reveal! So far I use Stat Counter and Google Analytics...aside from paid services like Mint, are there any other better tracker services out there. Free ones perhaps? :)

Odd...well I've never had that sort of Youtube problem...I've uploaded several video clips that didn't experience much of a distortion or loss of quality. I think I used some software called Ashampoo or something like that to shrink my video before sending it to Youtube...anyhow just passing by!

There is some serious inflationary concerns in the US economy at the moment. There is some talk that the Fed should stop dropping interest rates and just let the economy bleed itself out to stop the upward pressure of core prices. Scary stuff

I personally think the internet skews the true life reality when it comes to politics. If you scoured the internet you'd think everyone was a Obama or a Ron Paul supporter - but that's only because their supporters tend to be younger, more internet savvy people. The silent older majority are not but they tend to come out to vote when it really matters. My 2 cents! :)

The one advice I hold onto the most is the one about not focusing on acquiring and purchasing stuff. Stuff depreciates and fades with time. They become outdated and can be replaced. Memories and life experiences cannot. That's why I have less problem spending big money on experiences over products.

ProBlogger might not update very frequently like some others...but his posts generally always contain useful quality content.

I agree with the guy who said that Shoe Money's not worth reading...I've never found anything useful or all that interesting on his site. Some of these popular sites aren't all that great, they've just been around very long... just my three cents! :)

When I first started out..I tried creating 15 blog accounts using the free Blogger service. I had one blog for every money/finance related topic - one for eBay, one for investments, etc. I figured the more the better. Obviously I found it impossible to handle and realized that quantity over quality would not work. I nuked them all and consolidated everything into the one blog I have now. Maybe one day I will expand....one day..one day.. [*looks into the distance longingly*]

When management changes, oftentimes there is significant change in the direction of the underlying product. I guess the wiki customers will have to wait and see what happens and whether the pre-existing hype machine will still be there to promote it.

For example: If craigslist were bought out, I'm sure there would be a panic among those accustomed to the free service it offered.

One time I was porting my blog to another host provider and thought I had deleted my database files by accident. I had not properly backed up my files (*slapping side of my head*) and my heart stopped for a moment when I feared my files could be gone forever. Luckily the provider was able to retrieve them.

Note to self: Back up files! :roll:

Random Tip: If you accidentally delete a few posts, you may be able to retrieve them from Google cache...just found that out the other day.
