in What’s Your Color Story? Find It With a Little Help From Polyvore.com on Carrie and Danielle
I've searched and searched for YEARS to find my colors... At one point in pure frusteration I wore black and that was it.... But as a mom I decided I needed to refine my colors... I looked at the Color Me Beautiful website to find my skin color... I've found that I am naturally inclined to my colors... I didn't want to admit as a teen that dusty rose, brown ( that is my base neutral that goes from tan to chocolate), ivory, blues - soft blues... RED, I love RED, but it's more a clear red...
In short, browns, soft colors: in shades of reds, blues, ivory
It took me a while to truly find my colors. Loved the polyvore site.

in Confessions of an Imperfect Man (Just Ask My Wife!) on Carrie and Danielle
Wow! I never thought of it that way... My dh's standards are lower than mine when it comes to the home, and he is willing to assist with this - and gets the kids involved too... He does take my standards into consideration, and I respect that if I don't want it done to his standards and it must be done to mine - do it myself... No reason to be disrespectul.... I've learned that some things don't really matter... But since he did drop off the kids to school and get me my 'morning cup of coffee' I'd better get started on breakfast... We've a big day ahead of us.

in How Would You Like to be Cared For? on Carrie and Danielle
morning hugs from all the kids in the morning, I love morning hugs. A bit of help 'round the house - I hate doing it alone, for example, seeing the kids can actually pick up after themselves - having to do this for them or having to TELL them to do it really makes me feel like the maid...By someone expressing and listening to my thoughts, feelings and ideas, without expressing they are wrong OR trying to 'fix' the 'negative' emotion. The little things count so much more than the big things.

in What is the vision for your dream home? on Carrie and Danielle
That's easy, a Victorian home. with a wrap around porch, and flower garden in the front . I nthe back a garden plentiful of veggies and fruits. Plenty of yard space for the dog and kids, and colorful curtains. Soft couches, Yes, I adore Victorian homes, but long for soft and comfy couches... Natural woods OR babmboo ( it is after all more environmental friendly) in EVERY room for flooring iron looking wall sconces... Antiqued decor, feminine BUT NOT too much so... And must have a large kitchen and FORMAL dining area.
One day, but if not I can bring all the decor and gardening items into the home I currently have. I choose to enjoy what I've got... And am currently working on making the colonial I have into my dream home, no it'll never have a wrap around porch, but I can make the interior as I want, along with the outside decor.

in What items from your childhood make your heart smile with fond memories? on Carrie and Danielle
Angel Wings - Buscha would bring them in between Christmas and New Years to celebrate, we have this tradition with our children now, only my dh stops at a specialty shop to purchase them.
A deck of cards, my family is was into pinochle and the adults used to play while us kids got to hang out and spend some time together.
my first bike, b/c I remember my dad following me on the bike and helping me learn to ride - I still love riding today...
the scent of homemade bread/baked good, as it reminds me of being at home with my mother....
For me it tends to be all things that have to do with the memory of time spent with my parents/grandparents, doing something and being together.

in What’s that one thing you are putting off that would contribute significantly to your well being? on Carrie and Danielle
Several things: learning to sew ( I've always wanted to do this), EXERCISE - I used to love it then got sick and stopped, I'm no longer ill, but need to modify my routine per dr. orders.... Eating more healthfully, my body has been reacting BADLY to the junk I've been filling it with. Decluttering my home and LIFE - you know too many things to do, so little time with the holidays coming up it seems I've Busy, busy, busy, BUT NOT productive... And finally enjoying my children, letting go of this and that need done and just spending time with them that is relaxing for all of us... Letting go of the 'plan' and just remembering to take the day as it comes and enjoy what is presented that day.

in This Labor Day, how would you change our work culture? on Carrie and Danielle
My dh has fallen for the same trap... With some encouragement, he is planning on leaving and taking steps now to leave his job and step into a new career. He's not only planning, but taking practical steps toward his goal.

in This Labor Day, how would you change our work culture? on Carrie and Danielle
Shorter work week, slow down work pace. We tend to in order to keep a job these days need to eat, sleep, and breathe our work if we are in the corprate world and if not we still work at a much faster pace than that of other countries. Incorperate a more family orientated environment. My husband for our first child took a month off - he used ALL of his vacation time for it. Our second child he took 2 weeks off and the same for our 3rd... Why? Though we have FMLA, it is unpaid and our entire family suffered due to the practices that were in place at his job. Healthcare for ALL - this shouldn't matter where you work - the corner store or a bigger company. We have OK health care - major changes were made in the last contract, but we see our family who b/c they work at a gas station have very little health coverage, and some who have none, and this is the land of 'oppertunity'... Finally, all employees should have AT LEAST 1 day off per week, no matter how many parts or whatever is needed. One day that is to be spent with family. There used to be a law that noone could work on Sunday, what happened to that?

in What’s your favorite easy thing to cook? on Carrie and Danielle
to cook or eat? Let's see looks like cook, so, spagetti with salad and bread, yes from scratch - it's even easier with a bread machine, a glass of Merlot... I also like eggs and toast with juice or grapefruit 1/2. pasta of all kinds - short answer is the easier and less time I HAVE to spend cooking and standing over something and the less dishes to wash the better. BUT ALWAYS fresh.

in What’s sacred to you? on Carrie and Danielle
Food - it nourishes the body, and if eaten in the right state of mind the soul... ( this was the first thing that came to mind)
Prayer - how else can one communicate with the divine?
Song/Music/dance - it shows what is in my soul, I love to sing and play and dance
But if you want the short answer - health, in body, mind and spirit.

in What promise did you keep that changed your life? on Carrie and Danielle
Live a balanced life. I LOVE to give, however, you CAN give TOO much... So I decided to become more balanced and made a promise to mysef to do so - balanced in thought, word, deed, physically, mentally and spiritually... I'm still figuring it out, but I do take weekly 2 hr baths, and expand my mind with reading, the house is up ( I am an at home wife and mother of 3), and I'm NOT totally responsible for the house... I also attend to my body with exercise and my spirit with study. How did balance change me, I'm a happier person, and I feel free to express my opinion... And b/c I am becoming more balanced my marriage and family life are happier.

in What kind of clutter is in your life? on Carrie and Danielle
I have physical and mental clutter. My dh is a packrat so the stuff clutter and I have so much I *should be* in my head and what I *should do* and really I have no authentic desire to do so... Therefore I end up feeling guilty...
I also have some body clutter ( excess weight) but have sucessfully shed 31 pounds of it, now to get rid of the rest... This causes head clutter... there is a vicious cycle going on here, but I see it and can take care of it...
I'm working on ONE clutter mess at a time, the body clutter is the most important to me, so that is priority #1, priority #2 is the mental and expressing my true opionion ( this is DIRECTLY connected to the body clutter - but the body clutter effects my physical and mental health).... Physical clutter, well, maybe it's just me, I do like a minimal amount of stuff... To me if it's not been used in 1 year, isn't beautiful or useful or isn't a family piece ( I LOVE heirloom pieces and most of my large furniture pieces are older - one day I'll tell you the story of each piece)...

in What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever given or received? on Carrie and Danielle
I allowed someone to control my life, I lost myself and forgot who I was. He didn't appreciate the control, and reality is neither did I. I've been down that road, it leads nowhere. Taking control of your life is easier than it sounds.

in What would improve your work space? on Carrie and Danielle
I'd like my office space to be cleaner and to reflect ME a bit more. Right now tis a cluster. A place for recycling items to go and a trash can near the desk. I like the desk - dh DID design it for me... I want a more comfortable chair too...

in How would you spend your last $20? on Carrie and Danielle
$20, Well, depends on what is needed and how I feel... More than likely I would purchase dinner for our family of 5 - yes in today's society it CAN be done. You see I don't like to cook too much and the break is always something I appreciate, or I'd get groceries and have dh cook ( he IS a better cook than me).
