John,

Do you have an herb garden outside? If so, I will gladly share two perennials that I am unable to kill here in my patch of rocks and clay. *lol* Sage (which will take over if you don't watch out) and garlic chives (which re-seeds itself year to year). They are both wonderful (sage in a very moderate amount) and garlic chives (have at it...it's very mild!)

Just let me know and I'll bring some to Conference.

Yes!
So glad to hear that Jim asked you, and that you accepted. I think the idea of layspeakers sharing their varied talents is a wonderful idea for this year's banquet. You will be super.
Warm hugs,

Noooo! Not now! I'll be praying that you don't get stuck in Amsterdam, but if you do, call me...I have a friend in the Netherlands. Vera is a dear person who speaks English and Dutch perfectly. She was born in the States and grew up in Holland, near Haarlem. She's sweltering in the heat over there right now. They don't have air-conditioning and have had record-breaking heat. She told me this morning that they finally have had some rain and lower temps.

in No place like home on Lake Neuron
tried to resume blogging. I won't work today. Blogger keeps giving me an error message. Looks like the system might be down? I'll get it done later.

Companions in Christ is such a good thing for me right now. Wonder if you have it at FUMC? I'm attending at Blackman UMC with Rev Cindy facilitating the group. You're welcome to come join us tonight with some banana chips! We always seem to need pretzels or some other low fat snack during the meeting. ;-)

I knew there was a reason I went to our 8:45 service! *LOL* I'm also hooked on "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me!"

Awwww...thanks so much John. You're so kind.

I began watercolor pencil and collage use after I started journaling with my work for relief from depression and later for my Companions in Christ group.

I took a course in watercolors and happened to borrow some of my instructor's watercolor pencils. I was hooked on them immediately. I take a small kit with me wherever I go and all I need is a glass of water, sometimes a permanent marker and some glue for the collage pieces.

It's theraputic for my brain and wonderful for my soul too.

in Defining a veteran on Lake Neuron
"...Anyone who served in the armed forces is a veteran, and anyone who served in the armed forces is worthy of our respect and admiration. I was never in the military myself, but I am deeply grateful to, and admiring of, the people who did, and those who do today..."

Thank you, John. I'm proud of your column too.

My husband was in the US Navy (Submarine Service) for 23 years. We added it up and decided that during that period of time, he spent a total of 8 years submerged in the "boats".

Part of that time of service was during war years, but the majority of it was not.

It took the Navy nearly 15 years to disclose the (at that time)"top secret" event that one of the Subs he was stationed aboard was involved in a particular foreign conflict and give the men a medal for it.

I'd say he's a veteran. Our country is a safer place in which to live due to our honorable peacetime military, as well as those courageous men and women who serve during times of war.

in Layspeaking banquet on Lake Neuron
Oh my goodness John, see what you've done? You may even cause me to start bloggin' again...or at least whip up a batch of chili in anticipation of whenever the snow begins to fall. *L* That recipe makes my mouth water just to read it!

It was a wonderful celebration last night and I was so happy to get to see you. It was super to hear Bishop Morris once again.

I'll be sure to let you know if...er...when (?) I go on that mission trip to Honduras.

Blessings to you and all your regular readers,

Yippeeee! You made it home safely. So happy I had the chance to check in before tomorrow and say "Welcome home!"

The Lay Speaker course with Don Ladd was outstanding! Looking forward to the remainder of the course next Saturday.

Have a wonderful week and find some time to catch up on your "beauty sleep"!
