You can't expect the Tribune to say something like "we were second" on a story like this. This reeks a bit of tooting their own horn and expecting readers to believe they are they have authority but the fact remains that TMZ broke the story. Claiming they had the "fastest, most credible information" is a bit of a stretch.

Newspapers have to realize their strength is depth of coverage and not speed of reporting.

I find this a little trickier in my genre (gadgets). The discovery of the gadget and reporting on it first is most important. Often I'll find a new gadget, write it up with a link to the manufacturer or a retailer's page and then find another blog has 'scooped' the gadget without listing my site as a source when it's pretty obvious they took the idea from me. Even a tiny "via" or "source" at the bottom linking to me is fine but many sites don't do this.

I find a lot of the content scrapers actually link back to me, which is not ideal but acceptable. As long as they link, Google should hopefully (or eventually) get it right.

It seems weird to see an off-center keyboard but I guess it's necessary with the other controls on this laptop.

The whole "you are outperforming lydia" part seems a bit cruel considering it's someone's finances you are talking about. Is Facebook really the right venue to let your friends know they've made poor investment decisions?
