in 7 Days of 007: A Retrospective of Bond Title Montages on Film School Rejects
The Quantum of Solace theme is terrible. What were they thinking? I don't even
want to know what the intro looks like if the song is that bad.
Then again, I thought "You Know My Name" was pretty lame, but then hearing it in
the theater with the intro made me realize just how perfectly it fit.

Sorry, but this song really blows compared to Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name".
That song totally fit the vibe of the "new Bond". This song does not.
Heck, I'll take any of the old really cheesy Bond themes over this one.

in Netflix Discs with ARccOS Copy Protection on Zatz Not Funny!
Not to mention it violates your ability to make a "backup" copy of the disc-- I have a friend who has an autistic child, and was spending hundreds on replacing DVDs after his child scratched them. I showed him how to rip the DVD (decrypting it) and then re-author and burn it as a backup, even removing the menus (which can frustrate his son.)
This is a total legally protected and acceptable use of a DVD movie you purchased. And now they're coming up with even more protections, so every now and then I get a phone call asking why my process has failed to copy a movie correctly.
Same goes for video games with copy protection.
The companies cannot honestly expect you to go drop another $20-$50 for another copy if it gets scratched or destroyed. It doesn't cost that much to make a disc.

Clearly it's okay for most people to say George W Bush looks like a Monkey. So it also should be okay to say that Obama looks like a monkey, right? Wait, you think it's racist? Oh, shucks!
I don't understand people. Get over your "that's racist" junk already. Political correctness is a load of bunk, and everyone knows that.

in Netflix Agrees: Blu-ray Wins on Zatz Not Funny!
So when will Sony, etc. start offering a conversion program, giving me a deal for trading in my old HD-DVD player?
It's fun to gloat about either side winning, but in the end, it really sucks for those on the losing side. And it really should have never come down to two sides at all.

Totally pointless. Wow, Apple made it smaller, and took away a lot of stuff that most people use everyday. And yet people are going to gobble it up because it has the Apple logo printed on it, and it's the latest and greatest thing that Steve Jobs hath crapped out. And it costs approximately the gross national product of a small country. Let's not forget Apple's past mistakes, such as the iMac and the iBook.

in Dave Dumps HD DVD on Zatz Not Funny!
The whole format war is bullsh*t. They should have decided/agreed upon a format from the get go. They know consumers don't like competing formats when it comes to their video/music fix (tape vs CD, DVD vs DIVX, etc.) so why did they think this crap would fly?
Blu-ray is such a pile of garbage, technically speaking, and they're just now getting picture-in-picture decoding support, as well as requiring their players to have an ethernet port for updates. HD-DVD has had that since the launch, and hasn't had to push out minor revisions to their spec (breaking revisions, might I add) like Blu-ray has had to.
But of course, you're right, whoever has the studios controls the world. And when Disney jumped on Blu-ray, I silently commented to myself that the war was over; Blu-ray would eventually win.
So now I'm stuck with an HD-DVD add-on drive for XBox360 which will shortly become worthless (well, maybe not worthless for the five HD-DVDs I own. But for future titles-- worthless.)
Also, those stating that the XBox360 HD-DVD player "upscales" for you-- it's the same exact decoding engine as if you stuck the DVD in your regular XBox 360 drive. No difference whatsoever. And the XBox360 is a pretty poor DVD player; run any serious interlacing, pulldown or color tests on it and it fails miserably.

Regarding HD-DVD, I haven't had a single problem with the add-on drive. Works great!

I had mine repaired (replaced with a refurb) a few months ago, and it's been working fine since. Supposedly mine has the newer stuff inside of it, but I have no real way of confirming that.
