As the 2nd shortest girl in the 7th grade, I felt I NEEDED them. We called them high-heeled sneakers.

By any name: yuck. What was I thinking?! I claim being 12 and it was the 80s as my excuses. And mine were lavender and gold. the gold was reflective.

Better or worse than the high-heeled Timberland boot?!

Re: the wedge sneaker - a trend that escapes me

I think even the great geniuses have missteps.

Re: eberjey while you’re away

I have always been amazed when visiting, traveling, or sharing the odd lakehouse or beach cottage, how many people do not have an appropriate sense of loungewear! I am a straight-up cloche girl. I have pink, black, brown, kelly green,

I also wear the occasional straw cowboy hat because I live in Austin and it's practical for the heat. I have some straw boaters, an Ascot-worthy black straw hat with a ginormous satin bow from summer study abroad, baseball caps, and ski hats. A faux-fur Russian-style hat that I lug anyplace the temp drops below 50.

No berets or fedoras for me, alas. Not my style. Love that straw fedora and the Miss Sixty cap. Sigh.

Re: 7 keepers for Fall

It's confirmed! I will be purchasing slouchy boots this fall! There is a pair in Lucky that I must go back and peruse - I was in doubt, but no longer!

I pretty much have everything else already - hurrah! What do you think about plum for fall?! I have a divoon new (old) eggplant patent clutch. And I am sticking with my brand-new motorcycle jacket from Bs As. But I love that See by Chloe one...sigh.

Re: high-waisted skintight short shorts - who would wear this look?

Awful. Terrible. Hate them. I have yet to see anything off the runway that looks good/classy/appealing...it just turns tragic. So, so, tragic. It's the pants equivalent of a midriff-baring shirt if everyone in the world had a muffin top.

This is an instance of a runway v. real-way flop. My biggest dislike it that it sends people the message that this looks good!

Re: Barbara Bui for Fall

I curse Shopbop! The dreamcatcher-as-headgear look is still represented by the aging/aspiring hippie demographic, that also embraces broom skirts and burlap shirts. But I think it's cute when it's paired with clothing that doesn't make the headgear look dated.

Re: the maxi: dress or glorified nightgown?

I love the idea, but it's not a great fit for my body type though I am tall. My sister looks darling in them and there were a few at my recent wedding, too.

Like Nancy, the flounce turns me off. The ones I like best are the halters styles that have a little shape and drape the figure. I have ONE black jersey halter-style maxi that I love for summer, but it's hardly a go-to.

Soo...cute for some, nightgown for others?!

Re: tibi transitions to early Autumn

I wish more designers did a pre-fall collection! Texas is so hot that I seldom have much practical use for fall/winter clothing, but I could see myself wearing this transition-wear throughout the season.
Plus, I like to be able to "look" fall even though it's 90 degrees in October.

I love the tunics! That Addison tunic is fabulous!

Re: the perks of a transitional outfit and how to get one

I love transitional wear! It seems as though it stays hotter, longer (especially in Texas) and I love the idea of fall looks/accessories without the wool pants/jackets! It's fun, colorful, interesting, and great fun for discussion and people-watching.
So much of fashion is predictable and stylized...80s fashion is very anti-that.

I still mis Ton Sur Ton. Sigh. I went crazy this weekend with all of the shades in the store, but limited myself to one eggplant tunic. But there WILL be more.

I have content myself with fall clothing...since it's 104 today. That said - it is a cool look! The quality seems to have held up under massive merchandising which is quite a coup.

If I'm being totally honest: after Bret Michaels took 2 girls on a date to the Ed Hardy store on ROCK OF LOVE, I was a little over it. Not that it doesn't have a great look - just too mainstream.

Great post! Ed Hardy is a great talking point of fashion - most people have an opinion about it. And the rip-offs can't compare to the original.

Re: fringe-tastic Fall

Fringe, fringe, fringe! Perhaps because it's so seasonal looking, and we don't have a real fall. They would be perfect if I make it to NYC this fall - I like the Vince Camutos, but the Corso Comos are a bit more practical...

Wait a minute! This is kind of "me". I would wear it with my shrunken brown velvet jacket, flowy silk cami, skinny jeans, chocolate stiletto heels/boots, and some chunky gold jewelry with my huge cranberry carpet bag. Very everyday.

Not that I am giving up my Erotokritos bag or vintage Gucci tote anytime soon, but...it's a great way to be "fall" without sweltering.

Re: a laundry list of ways to wear the long cardigan

Love the long cardigan! Am very excited about this for fall (have been visiting that Donna Karan on net-a-porter.com, coincidentally!)
