Love this client I started with other one but soon found it to much of a pain to use with OS X spaces.
Found that this one will work very nice with spaces I would have to bet that it works will with Vista's rip off of OS X's spaces as will.

in 47 Second Flip Flop on The REAL McCain
McCain isn't flip-flopping here. In the first part, he says that it isn't realistic to end the war in Iraq within a few months, since it's taken so many years to get there.

In the second part, he's saying he can ESTIMATE how long it should take within a few months, once they have the support of the Iraqi government. The interviewer asks "...all in how long will you give it to work?" "I think in the case of the Iraqi government cooperating and doing what's necessary, we can know fairly well in a few months."

Just because he said "a few months" both times doesn't mean he flip flopped. He's talking about two separate, but related, timeframes.

In the first, he's saying the war won't end in a few months.

In the second, he's saying we can figure out how long the war's going to take from intel that won't be in for a few months (according to the context of this clip. He may be talking about efficacy of the surge.)

in Broadband metering experiment in the works in Texas? on The Technology Liberation Front
"Do you have any evidence to suggest otherwise?"

No, I certainly don't. This is a situation where the devil is very much in the details and we run the risk of lumping together significantly different things which likely have significantly different outcomes.

To go back to electricity. I pay $7.5 a month (for billing costs and so on) and 5 to 8 cents a kwh(depending on time of year). I would consider this true metered service. If I shut down the house I would pay $7.5 a month. If I crank the heat up in winter I might pay $150 a month. Water use is similar. No water use, no cost. Cost related to amount consumed.

If the company decided to start charging $100 minimum, regardless of use and 20c per khw above 2000kwh a month this might also be classified as a two part tariff but I hope we would agree that it is a drastically different approach and probably would lead to quite different outcomes. Suddenly the vast majority of people no longer have any real control over their costs. If I upgrade the insulation in the house there is no cost benefit. If I reduce consumption by turning back the thermostat in winter or replace appliances with more efficient models, there is no cost benefit. Neither behavioral changes nor infrastructure spending reduces cost(unless I was really squandering energy before) even though it reduces my energy consumption. In fact, as far as I can see I have no incentive to do anything other than waste energy up to the flat fee limit.

Is this the way markets are supposed to work? Aren't we disrupting some important signals here?

The reason I posted was because I like the idea of metered service but I see a lot of people not making distinctions between what seem to be quite different approaches. I think it is a mistake to support this time warner experiment just because one supports metered service.

in Broadband metering experiment in the works in Texas? on The Technology Liberation Front
"Or will they embrace metering as potential money-saving business model that helps lower monthly bills for light Net users."

I'm not opposed to new models but there are no indications that this is metered service. With metered service people could control their costs by controlling their consumption. Everything we have heard, up to this point, suggests this will simply be flat fee for the vast majority with overage charges for heavy users. This isn't metered service at all and it imposes the disadvantages of both metered and flat fee on the customers while giving the company the advantages of both. There is no reason to believe that any price decrease, for light users, is going to accompany this.
It is no more metered service than if the electric companies started charging everyone a minimum of $100 a month for electricity with additional charges for those who use significantly more than average.

in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Ending Revealed ? on JazJaz
Hmm. Even if it were true, it seems to follow the progression of most fantasy books in the sense there's a massacre and slaughter-fest of the main characters, hero (or someone close to hero) survives to tell the story and a new evil spawns from a toady of the previous big bad evil guy. Either way, I'm sure the actual book would provide a better read than the supposed spoiler.

Most blogs are short on moderators who should delete the obvious ugliness or profanity. With that change, the blogs could improve. Also, I don't know if we are being realistic that the faceless chatter at the other end could ever get the same respect or understanding as if we were in person together at a event in my home. Nice to try but unlikely.

your wrong. i used to live on the estate where it was filmed, and it's quite accurate.

superior to chavs are you? I know so called 'chav's who could run circle's round people like you intellectually.

"Yes, there may be folk like this, but thankfully, I don’t know them."

thankfully this film and people who live in yorkshire have a sense of humour, unlike you.

in How the New Dollar Coin COULD Work on ParisLemon
I thought the annoying part of the Sacajawea coin was easily confused with the quarter because it had a similar diameter. It seems like the golden color would have been enough to distinguish it but that was not always the case.

in Why Does Windows Vista Get No Fanboys? on ParisLemon
we could also look at the fact at VISTA is the first truly consumer aggressive OS to come out to date, unless ive been living under a rock, that is.

Microsoft has been very aggressive in the past, as have many developers. i wouldnt exactly consider Apple the holy grail of developers either, as they have had more than their fair share of screw ups aswell.

Apple has survived in recent times off an increased number of "converts" and a "pretty" product. however MS has an OS, not a computer system, and that in it own right, deserves less praise than what Apple "tries" to accomplish. however at the same time Apple was saved by a stroke of luck.

but one needs to consider than apple did not jump on this bandwagon of consumer aggressiveness with a few select organisation's and companies, to develop this aggressive and disgusting change of developer mentality.

whether this in time becomes the reason consumers turn their backs on the likes of microsoft, sony, riaa, mpaa etc, only the future can tell. i myself hope that the MAJORITY of consumers open their eyes to the reality of what these companies are trying to do them and their rights, rather than only a minority speaking out, but having no one listen.

ofcourse there are other issues with VISTA that are well documented around the internet, like backwards compatibility, performance etc. but i hope the aggressive nature of this product is what truly makes it struggle.
