No middle class American would be paying anywhere close to 100% in taxes as a matter of fact depending on bracket it would probably max out at 35% for the average American worker. The extremely wealthy would pay more. I would think for example, someone who makes $750,000 a year could maintain their lavish lifetsyle making "only" $650,000 a year.

A 30 watt charge going into the 12v battery on a prius is not going to give a 10% gain in fuel mileage. The prius uses a 200v battery pack to supply energy to the electric motor and uses a 12v battery to supply power for boot up of the computer, and to run your standard car accessories like radio, cell phone chargers, etc. 30 watts of power would be the equivalent of turning off a loud stereo--I doubt people have seen 10% gains from doing this..

If you want to spend some money and maybe make a tiny difference, take that $2195, buy ~300 watts of PV at $5/watt, a $500 grid-intertie inverter, and use the extra $200 to put toward install and misc supplies, and you'll have 300 watts of power feeding the grid. You can probably get some tax breaks on this too.

Panels angled for your latitude and season, or better yet with active tracking would put to shame any system sitting on top of a car.

Secondly, I agree that this case is terrible, and I truly hope that Tori can rise above all of this. The defense is not attacking the jury AFTER their decsision, these are arguments and motions that were made BEFORE the jury reached its verdict. The Tribune and kASS having started all of this make it seem like somehow the defense is NOW piling on the jury for their decision. Another lets just attack George assault. Can we get the facts straight here? Can we be just a little bit fair? How is it the defenses fault that these arguments and motions are NOW just being released when the COURT and the GOVERNMENT (wrongly) kept this info from the press and the public at the time of the trial. If you read the TRIB or some of these blogs you would think the defense has been doing nothing but attacking jurors and researching their backgrounds since the verdict. NOT TRUE. I will bet you that the information in these motions and arguments made BEFORE the verdict also came from the FBI and the COURT's investigation of the jurors DURING deliberations and they had to turn the info over to the defense and they then used it in their motions BEFORE, not after, the verdict. The Tribune having started all of this should be called to account for their FALSE and obviously malicious reporting on this.

....And another thing, why is the COURT just trickling out this information? Why is this stuff being unsealed (shouldnt have been kept from the press in the first place) piecemeal? Why have the transcripts of the secret court meetings not being released? Is the judge still editing the transcripts? Why have they not YET BEEN RELEASED. I guess when they finally are released the Tribune will also report this again as if this is some NEW attack on the jurors by the defendants.

Downstate, I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm, but if you are going to make an assertion and represent it as being factual then please check your facts prior to posting. My only point is that since this adminstration has been in office, they have NOT borrowed $25-billion as you assert, no matter how you try and spin it. That is factually innacurate, and your assertion should rightfully be challenged. I'm not arguing poll numbers, lawful transfers from special funds (a discussion for another day) or issues of competency. Just trying to set the record straight on one issue.

I don't get all this Obama talk. Why would he give up national presence to be Governor of Illinois? Come home to debt up to your eye balls and lose most of the National Spot light. If Obama doesnt get the VP job he will stay a Senator and become a national mouth piece, and try again. Hynes is the favorite. Do not forget his ties to the speaker (i.e. his family ties), not to mention I think its pretty well known Lisa is looking for a seat on the bench (the biggest bench).

Republicans and Conservatives who want a Constitutional Convention to fix this state have to realize that to have an impact at the Convention (and to avoid getting blown out of the water)...they would have to win many, many delegate races across the state.

If the Republican Party was capable of winning all those races around the state, then I think we'd have a much different state right now.

But the fact is the Republican Party can't win elections. So how do you think you could get a conservative majority of delegates?

That's crazy. The Republican delegate candidates would get demolished, and liberals would control the election.

I'm confused by all the "race" talk being done about the upcoming elections. We just elected the first African American President of the United States of America. We have and will reelect an African American Secretary of State. Why are we so affected by the exact number and who will get what when and how. Let the Democratic process work itself out. Lets have elections and may the best man or woman win. If we go backward and revert to racial politics will President Obama win reelction. If for some reason we don't have three or four African Americans in the General Election is it possible that maybe just maybe Democrats can win? Will President Obama campaign for the Democratic slate in Illinois. Will that help motivate African American voters to elect Democrats committed to fighting for his agenda.
