Stopped listening to Rush after his Colin Powell remarks.


Regarding the NYT Ad, the economists miss the point that the economy is hemorrhaging and we need to stop the bleeding before we think about rehabilitating, or in their words "... to improve the economy".



Improving something implies that things are OK and that we have time to make adjustments and refine policy to achieve an improved version of what we have. However, what we have is an economy in free fall: rising unemployment, fall prices especially home prices, and a serious lack of consumer and investor confidence. We don't want to improve that. We want to reverse it.



As a final note, I recall Obama saying something to the effect that we'll have to reduce these deficits once we get past this crisis, so he realizes that this kind of stimulus is temporary.

Very reasonable points and well-delivered.

As someone who runs a local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for performing artists, and who is asked to speak to conservatory classes about the "business side of 'Show business'", I can say your remarks are right on.


Actors in most degree programs are taught by academics, who themselves by-and-large have little or no actual experience as working performers.



They're taught first and foremost that they're ARTISTS, and that any other consideration, be it how to manage themselves as an independent business, how to actually network in their local performance community, even mundane things like what the latest standards are for headshots and resumes - are not only secondary to their artistic pursuits, but in some instances actually besmudge the "purity" of their art.



The professors themselves have no idea about the current state of the marketplace into which they're pouring these presumably talented, but otherwise hapless actors like water from a ewer, and as a result, graduates exit major academic institutions literally by the thousands each year, with absolutely no survival skills, and no exposure to the business side of the industry.



Conservatories and PATP's tend to do a better job in this regard, but even they for the most part treat performer-related business issues with less than the full attention they rightfully, and needfully, deserve.

Well, what a opener at HOME. It could have been better if we had won but it still showed the Real Fans, never say never! It is not always likely that these kind of games will happen but they often can. I'm just glad I stayed up for it to see it to the conclusion. Some very fun moments tonight. 2 down in the lost column but two very exciting games none-the-less. Let's get the next 15 or so in that Win column.

Well guys, not a terrible start but not the win we wanted. At least we made the Nats work for it by tying it up in the 9th. And Chipper got the honors of the first Homerun of the season with W lookin on! An he almost threw a strike on the first pitch. Ok, so we will see the first win at Home.

Hey JB, We like the new Blog Page. This is the first chance to actually get in a few comments. Well it looks like the season is right around the corner, in fact this coming week!Oh my bad, it's Today. So we should see what this team is made of real soon. I see that the Mets are going to be coming to Atlanta this coming weekend and Braves head to NY at the end of the month. So maybe by the end of the month we'll have an idea of what the trades and new players are going to do this year. Keep up the good work!

Suffer. I always had moderate success with women. But with the community I have met more fun and attractive women. W/o the community I would have that swing down to depression when I couldn't get a women(or dating a women I didn't really care for). THe community has help me realize I could get the women I want in life. It's comforting.


On the flip side I think without the community there are certain people that would push themselves harder to achieve success in other areas of their life. Like get a better job, a nicer car/apartment so that they can get women. Some people.





That sense of comfort, of knowing, is very important. It calms you down in way. You're not frustrated knowing that there are available attractive women out there for the taking. but for certain people,like myself it does make you lazy, in going after other things in your life. I think it has to do with your sex drive being quieted a bit. Idk. But w/o the community I would have been working at some other aspect in my life that would indirectly make women more attracted to me.

Apparently this is untrue as of today…. Paramount and DreamWorks will officially end HD DVD production as of march 4th
