I was wondering how you clients were reacting to your closing your practice. Especially the ones who were paying you an ongoing fee for you to "be there" for them. Perhaps you will be refunding them their subscription fees.

I have to say, from the outside, it looks a bit flaky. You had a practice where you claimed you could finally be the lawyer you wanted to be, and then unsuccessfully tried to transition that so you can go be what God has called you to next. But what if attorneys sign up for a year of your coaching and then you break up with DaveDee or God calls you to do something else and you have to go do that and hope people will understand. Same with the people who've signed up for your PFL program - are they going to be left in the lurch when you decide to move on?

As a friend who was listening to your last call said "If she has all these coaches, why is she so scattered?"

And these questions are coming from someone who thinks your methods are great, and has gotten good info from you, and is all in favor of living your dream, but maybe just be mindful of the promises you are making along the way. And realize that if you drop one thing that was so close to your heart, people might think you'll do the same with your Next Big Thing, and the one after that.

An app will likely be available to tether the Droid to a PC before Verizon makes their paid mobile broadband connect option available. That's assuming one doesn't already exist. I've used my Treo 755p with a work-around program (PDAnet) for two years now without ever paying for mobile broadband connect. I simply bought PDAnet for a one time $30 fee.

I have used both (Fogbuzz and Jira) at different jobs and will take Jira over Fogbuzz anytime any day. Fogbuzz at least when I used it last always insisted on doing things it's own way, need of the users be damned. It was like Mother knows best syndrome.

This frankly sound quite arrogant of Joel to dish a competitor's product as junk even though it is not. I had a lot of respect for him, but I am not so sure about it anymore.

Wow, they spent all that time and money over a fear campaign and wasted a ton of tax payer dollars and time that could've been spent elsewhere.

In the history of this country, there has been only ONE case of a child being sexually abused and killed on Halloween.

This is nothing but mass hysteria, fear mongering and a moral panic, that is unjustified, IMO.

First, let me get this out. I am totally against ANY form of abuse to any human being. And I believe anyone who murders another human being should be in prison for the rest of their life (until they die). I do not believe in the death penalty for anyone. Also, I believe that once a person has been in and out of prison and has served their probation and parole, done everything required of them, and what was signed on the "contract" when they took the plea, none of this should be required of them, none of it. The state cannot tear up a contract like this, which they are basically doing, it's unconstitutional. Many people, if they had known they would be faced with all this, they would have NOT taken a plea deal. And the courts are very aware of this and this is why they made it retroactive; thus violating ex-post facto laws! They should be allowed to get on with their life as if nothing happened. I'm not saying for it to be removed from their record, but, the crime should be removed from public view and background checks, they should not have any more restrictions, shaming, etc. If they commit another crime, then they face a lot more punishment, like everything else is treated.

When are we going to move away from being "TOUGH ON CRIME" and move to being "SMART ON CRIME?" If you locked every single s*x offender up, at this moment, or killed every one of them, do you think the problem is over? No, more will follow.

I've heard many people say "If these laws protect one child, then they are worth it!" And at the same time, if millions are tortured, it's ok. Offenders are losing their homes, jobs, families, and children and cannot find new jobs or homes due to the insanity of these laws. The families are also made into outcasts for associating with or being related to an ex-offender and their own children are harassed and bullied at schools due to a family member being an ex-offender.

I know these laws are a sensitive issue, but as all issues, they must be discussed and we must come up with a valid solution that will work. The laws, as they exist now, DO NOT WORK! People are always saying they cause unintended consequences. These laws have been on the books for years now, so nothing is unintended anymore. When are we going to set aside fear, hate, rage and anger and come up with a real solution? History has proven that these feelings NEVER get good laws passed but only create bad ones that punish and torture many people. These knee-jerk reactions to a slim number of high-profile crimes, like Adam Walsh and Jessica Lunsford, MUST STOP!

When an ex-offender is forced to move from his/her home, thus having to sell it, cannot find another home within the law due to the residency "buffer" zones, get fired from their jobs due to being on the registry, cannot find a new job due to being on the registry, their husband/wife lose their jobs due to a significant other being on the registry, their children lose their friends and are harassed and bullied in school due to a family member being on the registry, thus destroying the children's lives, ex-offenders are forced into homelessness and to live under bridges, harassed by police, neighbors and probation/parole officers, have to wear "I'm a s*x offender T-shirt" or have a neon green license plate on ALL their cars, have "s*x offender" on their drivers license and forced to renew their licenses every year, forced from shelters during tornadoes or hurricanes, cannot give blood at some places due to being discriminated against for being on the s*x offender registry, denied housing due to being on the registry, signs placed in their yards inviting harassment and ridicule from the neighbors, forced to move when the neighbors start picketing outside the ex-offenders home, the list is endless.

I THINK THIS IS CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT, BEYOND THE EXTREME!

Matt, have you actually tried the product?

I had a demo with these guys a few months ago and the first unscripted keyword I entered returned W3C page as a top "blog", while the real important coverage was missed.

The idea of measuring influence simply by these links is suspect at best. Much of real influence spread through offline mechanisms which cannot be measured by link counts.

I was a teacher for years. It's glorified babysitting 1/2 the time for grades 6-11. Where I was, it was such I soap I left. I'll teach adults, not kids. Not in the environment they give us.

Teachers get short days, and at least one week off every 2 months, with summers off. GIVE ME A BREAK.

The school system hasn't kept up with societies needs.

THat tax refund should have been put towards allowing schools to manage kids for the REAL WORLD. 8 - 5, 2 shifts if need be. It's about time kids were supervised and kept innocent as long as possible rather than watching teachers get short days, time off, and additional days off for all sorts of reasons.

I was in the communtiy taxi office last night with Shawn and Paul. The mechanic from Salem Taxi came in and asked if he could have a couple Lug Nuts because the wheel fell off a Salem Taxi around the corner and they needed them to get the car rolling again. Even after everything that has been said here about Shawn and Paul and community they did not hesitate to give Salem Taxi the parts they needed.

After he left I asked Shawn and Paul why they did that after all the stuff they said about them. They said that It's not the drivers who are saying it and we wouldnt let a driver be starnded just because of what thier bosses are saying.

90% of the time I'll skim in Google as well, but I pop the site open for posts that merit deeper thought.

I dig the Times look, but a bit of color might be good, as long as it's not garish (which the old look was).

My favorite would be theatlantic.com's touch of blue, which you sort of have here already. I'd try making your name and post titles a darkish blue, and perhaps blockquote backgrounds a very light blue, and leave it at that.

Mostly I'm just happy there are no dark backgrounds anymore -- hate those things.

The Germans do well despite a heavily unionized workforce. I don't really know if it is as featherbedded and inefficient as some but maybe it is.

Babe Ruth was a big, big drinker, a heavy smoker and perhaps the greatest baseball player of all time. (Certainly one of the greatest.)

The route to athletic excellence does not lie in alcohol and tobacco use. The Babe had some big advantages that allowed him to cover up his weaknesses.

The Germans have strengths that overcome their weaknesses.

There is no contradiction between saying the UAW is a problem for the US car industry and the success of the Germans.

I did not intend to provide a detailed argument that the German model cannot work here.

I very much doubt that we can emulate the Germans hook-line-and-sinker. Germany is Germany. It has an entirely different set of economic institutions, economic culture, demographics, eductation system, tax structure, geography, corporate laws, etc. I am surprised that anyone would need this point elucidated.

Similarly, I could not emulate Babe Ruth's success by taking up all his habits. I would simply be a fat, untalented, wanna-be baseball player with lung problems and a wife in divorce court.

Further I would not want to fully emulate Germay, even if we could. Perhaps the German car industry is currently more successful that the US car industry. So what? That success comes at a price and it might not be a price worth paying. Indeed, I would not want to pay it.

Personally, I've been to Germany and I don't want to live there. Do you? (If you are not living in Germany, I guess that the answer is no.)

Jerry, I don't understand how you don't get the criticism that is all over the net toward the RIAA. In addition to suing dead people (Mr. Scantlebury and Gertrude Walton), the RIAA has sued children (Brittany Chan), single moms, grandparents, people on welfare and disability support, and even those who don't own PC's or computers capable of running Kazaa (Sarah Seabury). The RIAA has shown that its investigative techniques are shoddy, to say the least, and lacking in human decency in many of the cases, by maliciously prosecuting children and the elderly.

As an update, the RIAA has dropped "this particular lawsuit" against the late Mr. Scantlebury after an "abundance of sensitivity" (which is their spin on the widespread outrage generated by the news, all over the internet).

Unfortunately for all of us, unscrupulous websites like reunion.com and intelius.com and ussearch.com collects personal information from sources like public records (motor vehicle records, voting registries, etc.) as well as from the three credit bureaus, who are only too happy to sell your personal info for $$.
I don't recommend that ANYONE contact any of these websites (and if you look at the reunion.com privacy page, it states that they have about 20 other sister sites of different names that provide the same information online).
Contacting them just confirms your identity (as others have noted) and they require you to send them notarized copies of even more personal information in order to remove you, which shouldn't be the case at all.
A class actino lawsuit should absolutely be in the works against all of these sites that publish everyone and anyone's names, ages, and places of residence for everyone to see online.

In this day in age we still argue about what is good and bad. Regardless of the fact that these people found the issue and are reporting it, there are 100 other people who find it and exploit it.

I say stop the MOXB and let the hackers shows companies the holes. See how many people complain then. If the white hats and/or grey hats stopped reporting to companies, we would be very quickly a botnet contolled internet.

These people who report are doing a service. Apple and others have been very slow in the past at patching and as of only recently begun to patch at a faster rate due to MOXB.

What is nice about MOAB is that it has finally shut my friends up about Apple being safer than any other OS. They have always boasted that they will never be hacked. As of yesterday, my buddy found he was no longer in control of his machine. I laughed.

No one vendor or OS is invulnerable. Everything has bugs. Not all can be fixed. But at least code check your software prior to release.

I had a screw puncture my tire a week or so ago. If it's a puncture from a nail, screw, icepick, etc, you can buy a tire repair kit from almost any gas station or car parts place. it's a metal rasp you use to clean the hole after you pull out the sharp thing. then it has one or more gooey black sticks of god knows what. You thread that through this other tool that comes with (hard to describe, imagine a super big needle but the eye part at the end of a handle), put some rubber cement (also included) on it, and force it into the hole.

It takes a lot of effort to push it in and even more effort to pull the tool back out. the needle eye is actually not a full loop so the gooey thread can slip out. What you're left with is a gob of the goo and cement filling in where the hole is. You'll have to cut away excess goo.

it cost about $4 and I haven't had to refill the tire. It's well worth it if you can delay the purchase of a new tire for at least a few more months.

If your puncture isn't a clean hole but rather a gash, then you're basically screwed. There is this foam in a can stuff that you can use to fill a tire but that's really more of an emergency kind of thing so you can drive to get it replaced or properly repaired.

As for Palin's support for abstinence only education, that is in public schools. What parents teach their children on their own is their business. Treating Bristol getting pregnant and keeping the child as some kind of moral or motherhood failure on Sarah Palin's part is ridiculous and sexist. This wouldn't even be an issue if it happened to a male candidate.

For the people that didn't see the comments above, this is for the OLD courthouse that currently houses the Lexington History MUSEUM. It is not the current courthouse where everyone works. The HVAC system in this building is very old and in bad need or repair, not to mention that the museum currently can only afford 2 employees to run the entire place, everyone else is a volunteer.

Wow, this wasn't a review on the movie at all. It was a review on society as a whole and the mediums through which it chooses to distract itself from the consequences of stress. Quiet contemplation is great, if you're a Buddhist Monk. People choose these distractions because, quite frankly, there is no time to contemplate anything "quietly". A mother and father of three children can get a babysitter or family member to come watch the kids to go see a movie. Who in the world would pay a babysitter to come watch the kids so they could sit in meditation.
Movies are distractions. That's why we go see them. They're not real. They remove us from the hostilities we face everyday on the road, at work, at home, or at school and allow us a brief 2 - 3 hour repreive from a life that only speeds up with each passing moment.
And BTW, name one romantic comedy that doesn't have "situational hijinks". You sound like you're either critiquing a genre of film in which you have no interest, or you've become so disenfranchised with course of society's evolution that you've lined up cinema, for obvious reasons, in your crosshairs. In either case, because of you're bias, I don't think you're qualified to review this or possibly any other movie.

This is a terrible review. It didn't comment on anything relavent to the movie.

Well somebody really goofed on the subprime bond ratings, namely S&P and Moodys. I live less than 100 miles from ground zero of the subprime mess - Stockton, Ca. If I had been the person responsible for rating mortgages and I saw all of this mortgage paper coming out of Stockton and similar locales, I wouldn't come close to giving an AAA rating. Sorry Stocktonites, but you've had this rep for a LONG, LONG time. I mean, lock your doors when you drive through there, even in the daytime. Wouldn't it be supremely ironic that Stockton winds up being the small crack in the dam that brings down the entire financial system?

This side discussion on this "ring" case is really distracting me from the cheese discussion.

However...

The appelate judge was, in my mostly random opinion, correct in his judgement.

A precedent has already been set in Meyer v. Mitnick, 625 N.W.2d 136 (Michigan, 2001), where the judge ruled that the engagement ring is a conditional gift.

There are currently two schools of thought on the issue:

1. There should be a "No-Fault" rule regarding the ring. That no matter what the reasons for the engagement breaking off, no matter who was at fault, that once the engagement is terminated the ring MUST be returned to the giver. If the recipient has destroyed the ring or rendered it irretrievable, the recipient must pay the giver equal value of the ring or pay for the retrieval and cleaning costs.

2. That there should be a clause to allow for fault. Basically, if the giver's actions caused the breakup, the ring is the recipients. If the recipients actions caused the breakup, it should be returned to the giver.

There is also some scuttlebutt about the timing of giving the ring having some bearing (Holidays, Birthdays, Zombie Attack, Cheese Festivals, etc), but I feel that is one person trying to create loop-holes.

In today's world as the ring is, at it's most basic form, a loan of a valuable item designed to show off finacial stability, deep emotion, good taste, or any combination thereof given to ensure completion of the marriage contract, I feel that the "no-fault" ruling is the correct one.

On a side note: at the inception of the concept of the "Engagement Ring" by Pope Innocent III back in the 13th century, both parties were to recieve a ring. I think that should still be the way things are done.

Engagement breakups are always a nasty thing...it's like muenster that's been set out too long. It was odd and different yet pleasing in the beginning, but then things get hard and stinky, and no one really likes that.

As far as I know...and I should...I am not Rickbo, Ali, Corky,Trashy, FishFry, Promises2Kee, or Buster (the obvious one you left off), simply because of all of those I have not attacked Robert208 for his opinions, views, tactics, etc. It should be noted that I have not attacked Anna either. Come to think of it, I haven't defended either of them.

My overarching point is that everyone has a point of view and they should be allowed to defend it as long as they want, as vigorously as they want, provided that they actually use logic and reason to back up what they say.

Also, I'm the only one of those who has exhibited any amount of humor from the get go.

Another good point is that my "speech" patterns are in no way, shape, or form similar to those with which you've done the dubious honor of comparing me with.

Naming of profile is something else to watch out for. I existed before several of the ones you listed (Except promises2keep & Fishfry001). My name differs in that mine is NOT a two syllable handle and is not a "Name" but rather a play on a name referencing an old Bugs Bunny cartoon.

I'm also the only one, so far, who backed up his opinions with a court case reference.

Lastly, I'm more concerned with cheese (and peanut brittle) than with who hurt who's feelings.

If you can't discuss something rationally, even if you're not it your right mind, you've lost the debate already.

Another good thing to consider is timing. If you look at the time stamp of the posts, you could probably get a decent idea of the timezone I live in...and where the others live as well.

Of course, you could just be yanking my proverbial chain.

If so, you're a big fat meanie head and I'm gonna take my (cheese) ball and go play somewhere else!!
