Some national, although I am most of my sites are all about Long Beach, CA Suprisingly Obama and Google News follow me!

Recently I performed an experiment via twitter/blog (highlighting a text chat)
updating during the Academy Awards / Oscars. It DID prove my thoughts: That people would subscribe to get the latest moviestar news, then UNsubscribe when they learned I could care less about fake dialogue and I hate the paparazzi!

I follow YOU, Leo, Scoble, etc. because I am trying to learn about new technology via osmosis. I'm the one who called into Leo's show in 2005 about podcasting and he referred to me as the Long Beach "Queen of Media" (back then I also wrote for a Signal Hill /LB newspaper).

Anyway, it's ALL good.

If I owned a company, I'd write "updating projects via twitter" into the job descriptions. It can really be a productive tool, saving time and money!

Re: Speak Softly And Carry A Big Camera Bag

Have a safe trip, great show today!

Re: TWiT Livelier

If I can promote this via ThePrimeSpot.TV
just let me know - you are already the
SPOTlight in my GEEK section on
ThePrimeSpot.com !

Re: Boing Boing has a few fans

While surfing to understand the vast workings of the world wide web, I noticed your are listed as third on google when searching those who link to a certain website :)

Re: BlogHer and Barack: EXCLUSIVE

www.WorldPeace.com

Re: SHOW US THE MONET! | The District Weekly

One thing that bugs me about this place is the one upstairs room where the work never changes. Also, it has the reputation for having the biggest video collection. Who is watching them right now and where? Are they also in the libraries, classrooms, uploaded to the web?

Imagine the SLIDE collection LBMA and all other quality exhibitors must have. All galleries and museums should have a Slideshow going NonStop, projected inside OR out - especially out!

LBMA, like so many (too many!) other "creative venues" about town have so much ... potential! IMAGINE: Acoustic Concerts and Simulcasts broadcasted LIVE worldwide (for FREE!) and WITH Live Text Chat. Imagine THAT!

Then project it !

Re: INDECENTLY HIGH STANDARDS? | The District Weekly

Watch Your Neighbors on LBCT = Channels 65/69/95 via Charter TV. (Many LB pubs like IguanaKelleys.com have cable access but they'll tell you no because they want to keep the game on for their customers ;)

Regarding shows at FlazhAlleyStudio.com, I'd have to say the past two shows were "tame" compared to the current one - for an ADULT gallery Let me quote you from the Mission Statement of FLAZH!ALLEY STUDIO:

" ... Flazh!Alley is a space dedicated to showing erotic and adult themed work exclusively. A space where you have to be 18 years of age or older, a space where people who have issues with adult themed work are advised not to attend, a space where the receptions are by invitation only, small, intimate and informal..."

I commend whoever decided to not show the third portrait (awesome self-portrait of the artist) at all. It not only leaves more to the imagination (go see the exhibit in person!) but gives respect to those like ME who have a problem of adult-themed artwork in public.

Am I a prude? Well I also worry about the impact is of kids watching all-animal nature shows - are they teaching our kids to be beasts - stalking their meal, tearing flesh, eating their young? Did Jeffrey Dahmer watch nature flicks?!

Note: www.myspace.com/LBCTelevision

Re: HEAVY METAL VOMIT PARTY LOOKING GOOD | The District Weekly

Hooray For Human, I LOVE the name & the concept!

Don't forget First Street is closed Saturday due to the Second Saturday Artwalk & the firedancers (Sirena Serpentina). I was told that it had been a gas station so it needed to be tested for a year by the EPA before anything happens.

I did the same re: property by the pier. At that time, the empty dilapidated building said "House of Real Estate." (An oxymoron, don't ya think?)

Anyway, I traced it to owners in OC who agreed they DID need to do something with the property they inherited, NOT just let it sit there.

I offered to rent it from them monthly, however committing to one year paid up front. They want $200 more per month and didn't want to make any improvements to the property.

My initial idea was to sell local art and music (at that point ThePrimeSpot Private Art & Music Collection was 20 local CD's and about 3 paintings but I was going to add wind-up-solar-powered radios and beach towels* to inventory.

(* Rainbow colored on one side, solid color on the other side of the towel - to advertise "preference" as you lay there worshipping the sun ;)

Anyway, sometimes just "stirring it up" can have an affect. I don't want that person OR some sneaky mysterious instigator, either.

If you want accountability or a reallocation of funds ask for it. If you want an up-to-the-minute (or so) "vote" from those concerned on how monies should be spent, utilize the site that BILconference used (during TEDweek) called http://www.NowGetSocial.com -> BIL scheduled the most popular speakers according to popular vote and availability, almost real-time <- Win-Win

If you want the leader of an organization to take a paycut, well why not request that of ALL orgs across the city, inviting the leaders to boast how the savings are reallocated.

Note: My thinking stems from being an HR Manager at a private company that went through alot of management changes. That weighs heavy in my book.

My personnel background in both California (private sector) and Hawaii (an employment-at-will state), termination usually involved a warning (verbal and written)from the employee's superior.

I know the DLBA org and fees paid by those concerned create a totally different scenario, but can't there be a win-win here? I live downtown, walk around and after reading some neg comments about the cleaning people, well I don't want to lose that service DLBA provides.

Why not implement:

Step One

Implement NowGetSocial.com to rank the "Requests for Change" you want in the DLBA. Voters should use REAL NAMES for accountability/specifics which would also avoid duplication of votes.

Step Two

Evaluate the response...

In the meantime ponder a replacement: Would you want a person be brand new to LB with proven track record from a Top 10 City? Or someone who has served on the board previously and has allegiance to current and past "ties"? Is the person who started the petition interested in the position? Will that person be doomed from the start because of the economy and/or look successful as the nation picks up from a recession?

Re: DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES PETITION DLBA TO FIRE KOJIAN

Somewhere in the tons of non-edited video footage, I have the guy who received acolades for the Long Beach Bike Fest that just came through LB earlier this year saying that it wasn't HIS idea, that the city manager handed it to him saying it had been on the shelf for a while.

What we should do is make sure in those circumstance(s) that the idea/event originator has first dibs to be involved/produce it when it DOES take off, possibly years later.

So yes, to repeat LBresident, "which ideas have not been approved?"

What's the status of "University By the Sea" (which I think/should always be tied to Smolarcorp.com )?

Is THAT happening this year?

That would be my first suggestion echoed by many: Bring back U-Sea!
