For me it's a yellow legal pad and a pencil (cheap productivity tools).

in Testing out the latest Windows Live Writer on Scobleizer
The latest version of LiveWriter is slick, I am so liking it. The formatting tools could use a bit of tweaking, however LW 2009 is definitely a great tool and keeps getting better. Has anyone else tried the Twitter plugin? Good stuff!

in Social network advertising: not your father’s banner ad on Scobleizer
Bah, banner ads are going anywhere for a good long while, especially on non-social sites. Too much branding to give them up. I still see excellent CTR on plain ol' static image banners. As long as they continue to produce good revenue I am not going to dispense with them.

in The economy of Friending on Shooting at Bubbles
While I do have a fairly large number of "friends" on at least one social media site, we as a group do have much of the same likes in terms of things we share with each other. Many of these friends do live in other countries besides the US, but all speak English. Perhaps my friending is on of those small percentages of people actually build a community of people around similar thoughts and likes. (shrug) I loved the article but don't agree with it 100%, I do however wholeheartedly agree with the respect for others.

I have 7,329 contacts on Flickr. I add most people who add me as a contact as a contact back. The reason is simple. Reciprocation. If folks are checking out my photos I want to check out there.
I have a lot less "friends" (477) on Flickr and have really only designated those people as friends who I really know or people whose photography I really really dig.
With Flickr when you look at your contact's most recent photos it pushes the most active contacts to the front of the queue. Because when I add someone I don't always know if they are an active photographer on the site or not, this helps me to stay on top of the most active of my contacts in the community.
I get a lot of faves on Flickr, but I try to give out as many as I get. In fact I've faved over 27,000 photos on the site by others that I really do enjoy and like. Frequently I'll go to my recent activity stream specifically to see who has been looking at my stuff and I'll make a point to go look at theirs.
Sometimes there are tools built into a site like Flickr that allow you to use the adding contacts functionality functionally. Sometimes it's more than just a numbers thing.

I love seeing musicians embracing new ways to distribute their work, and cutting out the middleman (RIAA). Let's face it the CD/Album business model is dead. It's time musicians used their music online to drive ticket and merchandise sales and to keep a bigger piece of the profit for themselves.

in No HD local channels for Scoble (Hint: there’s the Internet as a workaround) on Scobleizer
I myself have been waiting for a broad roll out of HD on DirecTV or even our local cable company. Heck I get NBC/CBS/etc from both coasts plus local news plus everything on DirecTV but I have been told there are only like 6 HD channels out of the hundreds offered. My local Cable company is just about as bad, the offer only a handful of selected HD channels. It just plain sucks. I have a huge Sony TV with HD, all my AV equipment supports HD, just no HD signal to watch for the most part. it is a conspiracy by TV manufactures and the Networks I tell ya!

in Google changes its monetization strategy toward a Microsoft one? on Scobleizer
Funny thing you should mention not having Google ads on your blog because you don't want Google to make money off of your content or be forced by Google to make money from your site. I ended up pulling the Google Ads off of Designer Today and several of my other content sites because of that exact same reason. I still run AdSense on some of our sites but none that have my unique content on them. I am glad someone finally made mention of Google monetizing their content, or being forced to do so.
