As for the Spurs, Ramos knows that something is missing; that is why he has been shuffling lineups so much. Personally, I think its a good, strong workhorse midfielder that can hold the team together and distribute the ball. Its a shame all the shuffling that went on on deadline day - probably really fucked up Ramos' plans.

Basketball is my favorite sport (even more than soccer), so this is an interesting development.

My question is: what's wrong with the pick and roll in soccer? If executed properly and legally (it clearly wasn't in this case, mainly because Vidic held the defender, whom I think was Ballack in this case) it is a genius play: it creates massive separation without incurring an offside penalty. If the second player sets the screen properly (as they would in basketball: by standing in one spot with their hands folded), then there is nothing illegal about the move, and it is a perfectly legitimate way to score a goal.

Ls7 is right - Manchester City buying Kaka from Milan is going to do more for Milan than it will for City. Given that Robinho left Madrid for 32m, couldn't Milan now replace Kaka with 3 Robinho's (or maybe 2 Robinho's and a Beckham...) and still have, oh, 12m left over? Absurd.

Richard, don't listen to these cynics! I thought it was funny, given that a fake player probably would have done more to help M. City than Kaka anyway, and for a fitieth of the price (in my world, 1 Gajillion/20 Million = 50. Don't ask how)! It was at least clever.

To the rest of you: I know this is that decivilizing medium known as "the internet," but have some courtesy. Not only did he try to do something most of you would never dream of doing (let alone being able to do properly), he's actually literate and gets through an entire post with no significant grammatical or spelling errors, which is more than can be said for the vast majority of this sites clientele.

I think everyone's missing the point: that Arsenal is between a rock and a hard place, caught between the devil and the deep blue sea (two cliches about the same thing in one sentence...I am so on a roll...). The point here is that yeah, Wenger probably hasn't been living up to expectations, but what can the club really do? If you fire him, you instantly end up with the "Mourinho Syndrome" currently making its way through the locker room at Chelsea. The fate of the man and the fate of the club are so closely intertwined at this point that to separate the two would lead to much more disastrous results than any managerial hire or amount of Nasri competence could save.

If Arsenal can make the last 16 of the Champions League this year, and Aston Villa proves to be better than Arsenal, why can't Aston Villa make the last 16 of the CL next year? If Aston Villa is a better team than Arsenal, than their inclusion in the Champions League would only help, not hurt, the premiership's position in that competition.
