that lexical scope thing bites me SO OFTEN. i keep forgetting i have to do "global $x" in functions where i want to use something in global scope and i wonder why things aren't working. argh!
more and more people i know are using facebook messaging instead of email. i sure wish i could export my facebook messages for backup, since it's getting more and more important...
i miss san francisco. i lived there 8 years, and for various reasons i returned to canada. like you said, it's a little world of its own, and within that each neighbourhood is like its own little pocket world.
