in Curbishly and Keegan Prove Foreign Owners Should Lerner from Randy on EPL Talk
What the hell is this about?
The cockney mafia vs the cockney credit crunch.
anyway... yeah managers know best, but in the case of West Ham Curbs was already on the outs and you may have heard the owner of the club had his bank nationalized by Britain and Iceland.
As they said in the movie Network... its ebb and flow.

in Where To Find Chelsea v Liverpool On U.S. TV This Weekend on EPL Talk
My take is CFC v LFC will be a bore. CFC will score early knock it about. Score another on a set piece then let the air out of the ball till the final whistle. Few counters by Liverpool. This game hasn't been the same since Jose left.

in What Impact Is The Credit Crunch Having On Premier League Attendances? on EPL Talk
I'm not so sure attendance figures will be the best way to reflect the economic crisis ( its well beyond a credit crunch). In poor economic times people flock to vices, booze, movies, sport. Its said that in times of crisis you buy stock in fast food and liquor stocks.
But how does this really effect English football?
You will find sponsorships down. You will find less corporate seats being purchased. You will find less big names flooding into the league.
If you want to talk about how this will effect the average fan? Well, season ticket holders will still attend, and clubs with large bases of these type fans will continue to fill the stands. But, as you guessed the teams who do not will have to be creative. Kids for a quid games, 4 pack games at a discount... But the reality is that if the team is performing people will come, which your number reflect.
I really think this next transfer market should be interesting, and the coming summer even more so. Sugar daddy clubs may well be the most effected. Roman Abramovich is said to have lost 20 billion in this crisis. He is still reported to be worth a cool 3.5 billion. Yet, you have to wonder if that effects the money he has to put into CFC. Think about just how just money that really is...
Think about just how this effects the common guy. A guy about to retire ( like say my dad) has to work an extra 5 years to make ends meet. Think he isn't going to spend some cash for a sports release... hell yeah he is.

in Poll: Which Premier League Ground Has The Best Atmosphere? on EPL Talk
I became a West Ham fan because of the support. Living in Shepherd's Bush I was going to QPR matches ( this was back in the 90's and QPR was in the top flight). The visiting support ruled. And once traveling East to see them. I would never ever support another team. By far the best support in London/England.
I do have to admit that this season its been a bit off.

in Which Premier League Teams Will Get Relegated? on EPL Talk
I don't think any of those clubs will go down, well maybe Stoke.
I don't even think it will b decided on the pitch. The banking crisis will decide who stays up this season. So many clubs are so deep in debt, that if any of it gets called they could be docked 15 points. This isn't just West Ham and its owners bank being nationalized and that Blade thing... Its clubs like Liverpool, Man U. Arsenal etc.
The English game is as close to the brink as its ever been, and the lower divisions will be hit hardest. But its a house of cards at the moment, and its not going to be over anytime soon. Expect even more off shore investment and ownership, and most clubs staying out of the transfer market.
and Newcastle have the best shot of any going down.
