We live in America, where for many generations $12-15 a gallon was far-fetched. But in many other parts of the world, it's much closer to reality and has been that way for quite a long time. I agree with the spirit of your position, but out of respect for diverse cultures with diverse approaches to consumption of the world's finite resources -- please don't confuse America with "the world."

Re: Search 1.0: Search Engines Still Lack Simple Features

I'm guessing that one plausible reason would be, enabling "search by date" might also expose some of the shortcomings in the search engines' spiders. I think in future posts you can also look at white-labeled social media products for larger installations -- Ning comes to mind.

Re: Making Viral Video Work

We recently published a white paper, “Small Business Guide to Web-Based Video Marketing,” which deals with how small business owners and marketing directors can use video to grow their business.

Re: 8 Stupid Things Webmasters Do To Mess Up Their Analytics

I can vouch for the TrackPageview tactic mentioned above -- most of my clients' sites are not e-commerce sites, making the whole game of defining and researching conversions really slippery. But adding this little snippet of code to every outbound link makes a lot of sense. CAUTION--even though Google recommends you drop the GA code way down at the bottom of the page, for TrackPageview to work, it's going to have to be near the top... or at least north of any mention of TrackPageview.

Now if only Google would allow us to set more than four goals for each site, then we'd be in great shape.

Re: Video Marketing for Free Traffic

Michelle -- thanks for making the distinction between the dog-on-a-skateboard videos and the ones that actually make a meaningful business impact. We just put out a white paper called "Small Business Guide To Web-Based Video Marketing" and we've referenced your article among the additional resources at the end:
http://www.clicksharpmarketing.com/blog/2008/07...

Re: Video Optimization and Analytics: A closer look at YouTube Insight

For supplemental analytics data (and a lot of help in syndicating content to various video sites) I can't speak highly enough of Tubemogul.com...

Re: Video Optimization and Analytics: A closer look at YouTube Insight

Thank you Jake -- I'm amazed YT Insight hasn't made a bigger splash... but its time will come.
