Agoos could stay on? That surprises me, I think they'll wait for Queiroz or whomever comes in as the new coach before making that decision.

bah humbug. You are credible except when it comes to your obvious outright bias towards DCU.

in Top 10 Favorite Soccer Podcasts on EPL Talk
World Soccer Daily has gotten better. Cohen is now calmer and a little more tolerant of other opinions. Howard while bitter and grumpy is less annoying than Geber was.

The Game stinks. They have a totally brit centric view of everything even though Marcotti is Italian. I hate that show.

I listen to MLS Talk every week, but personally wish the show would stick to the round table format that has worked so well when discussing news and events from around US Soccer rather than all these extraneous interviews. The show was much better over the summer when it was the place to get real analysis of the US National Team. Now with the club game moving front and center, not enough attention is being paid in episodes that feature "special" (as the host likes to say annoyingly over and over again) guests to the results on the pitch. But the recent round table discussions of the league have been nothing short of outstanding, and something sorely needed by American soccer fans.

in Podcast Release Delayed on Major League Soccer Talk
I'm dissapointed quite frankly after a great flying start to this podcast that during the playoffs you couldn't record and deliver a second episode this week. Also lately the updates on this website and on your personal blog have become less and less frequent. If work is eating into your time anyone can understand that, but if you cannot devote the time especially at this the critical point of the season, please do contact me or someone else with the time (Johnathan or Bruce perhaps?) to keep this thing going. Nothing is worse for those of us who are loyal listeners of this show and readers of this site for it to go dark in October and November.

in Could the US TV Audience for EPL Surpass UK? on EPL Talk
No way. ESPN has too many valuable sporting properties that conflict with the EPL to take a chance on something that averages only 300,000 viewers. European football, though I wish it were different is still a niche sport in the US with very little interest outside of a small circle.

MLS still represents the best hope for the sport becoming more mainstream in America, but through a number of bad managment decisions and the failure of the US to develop a superstar player that window is shutting quickly also, sadly.

in MLS Attendance Holding Steady on Major League Soccer Talk
No, everything you wrote is wrong. Actually K got it a bit wrong also. The crowds have typically been 3-4k larger between April and July 4th. After July 4th the crowds tail off and then continue to be down even through the playoffs when quite frankly half the people interested in MLS at the beginning of the year have lost interest in a crowded sports calendar.

I hope you have the guts to ask Trecker why he is so wrong so much of the time yet will never ever be humble about anything.

in British Media Doesn’t Understand World Football on Major League Soccer Talk
Exactly. while English teams are doing better now in the Champions League (after several years of being virtually irrelevant in that competition), English teams still don't advance very far in the UEFA Cup. That may change now as more second tier English clubs have money to spend in the transfer market, but since Hillsboro, England's record in European club competitions is inferior to that of clubs from Spain, Germany, Italy and perhaps even the Netherlands.

in British Media Doesn’t Understand World Football on Major League Soccer Talk
Not only do they not get it, they dont't want to get it. They just want to run down anything that isn't British in order to mask their own insecurity about the poor quality of their national team and the failure of Premiership clubs to dominate in European competitions.

in GolTV Pass on Arsenal TV and Liverpool TV on EPL Talk
GOL TV is really banking on La Liga and the South American qualifiers to increase Latino viewership. They also may do well with the Bundesliga based on the interest Mexicans have paid to Stutgart since Pardo and Osorio went over there.

I'm still not sure why in the heck FC Dallas signed Hislop to begin with when they had such a solid keeper in Sala. Was it just for a post World Cup publicity bounce?

Yes, Bonji, LA'S Recond in CONCACAF and US Open cups is very good. Here's hoping they beat Pachuca for MLS' sake!

in Rapids Win, and Suggestions for Changing the Playoffs on Major League Soccer Talk
I'm not sure MLS will ever change the 8 team playoff structure. This year's changes to take the top 4 finishers regardless of conference after the top two teams in each conference is actually a major improvement.

Some good points, but CONCACAF and FIFA will never sanction an event run by SUM, so perhaps these suggestions should be applied to the Champions Cup instead.

in Why EPL Clubs Should Buy English Not Foreign Players | EPL Talk on EPL Talk
Without the budding foreign talent in the EPL, the premiership wouldn't be making the dent it is in the sports landscape in Asia and Africa. Perhaps buying young English talent is a better on the pitch investment, but it is not a better marketing investment.

in Gold Cup Update on Major League Soccer Talk
I agree that this tournament has a feel that has been lacking in prior Gold Cups. It feels like a Championship and the smaller nations are taking the event very seriously. The US better steady the ship because we could be ripe for an upset in the semi-finals or finals if we don't get it together.

in Quick Postgame Thoughts on Guatemala-US on Major League Soccer Talk
Our guys too easily lost their composure down the stretch, but Demerit's entry stabilized the back line and Howard was never close to being beaten.

You haven't mentioned it yet but our finishing with the exception of the goal was terrible. Cristopher Sullivan mentioned during the broadcast that Twellman played well of the ball which maybe the case, but as has always been the case with him, his natural finishing touch from MLS does not translate to international action.

in Gold Cup Daily: Guadeloupe worth keeping an eye on on Major League Soccer Talk
Actually, I think Haiti will beat them and could advance themselves with a win or draw in one of the other two matches. Guadeloupe certainly has talent with all those guys playing in Europe but they have NEVER played together before. They qualified with a completely different set of players.
